Don't do business with Thoroughbred Diesel

A warning about dealing with these guys.
I ordered a $1200 kit including H&S Mini-Max, EGR delete, and cat/DPF delete pipes. Unfortunately they sent me the wrong exhaust pipe. I called them immediately when I suspected I had received the wrong pipe but was told that it was the right pipe and the second pipe would arrive shortly. Well the second pipe never arrived. When I began to replace the pipe it was obvious that it wasn't the right pipe so I called back. They then agreed they had sent the wrong pipe. I told them I had already removed the EGR system and now could not drive the truck as there is no setting for a removed EGR and remaining DPF that will allow me to drive the truck safely (confirmed with H&S). So I ask Thoroughbred Diesel to overnight the correct pipes. They balked eventhough it was their fault. I even offered to pay half of the shipping and they initially agreed but at 4:30 pm called and said they would not do it because it would erase their profit.
So be warned.....if you order from Thoroughbred Diesel do not expect them to stand behind their service. If they make a mistake they will not make up for it.
Just my .02

"erase their profit"- do they have any idea how much profit has been erased, now? I wonder if any of their employees are on this forum...

Thumbs up Rollinsmoke fan

Well on a better note, you can't beat the guys at Rollinsmoke. Treated me right the first time and so far that has went for all my buddies that ordered from them.

DNR Customs is a good source too. Stand up dude.. I may be a little biased because I'm driving his old truck some stuff may not be on the website but I bet he could get almost anything you could think of.

*by no means am I affiliated with DNR Customs.. Just hate hearing stories like this and companies not standing behind their work or owning up to their mistakes. Just spreading some friendly ADVICE and info!

Better luck next time!

Note to self.... don't remove the EGR on my daily driver until I'm sure I have all the correct replacement parts.

Good advice for ANY modification you attempt....make a list and check it off BEFORE you get started

Erase Profit

Well now they certainly have erased their own profit. Thanks for the advice, I was actually looking at that website and now I won't get anything since that is critical when you pay hard earned money and someone stiffs you like that. Sorry to hear.

?

Anyone have any experience with MKM Customs. I was thinking of purchasing a EGR Delete kit, H&S Mini tuner and turbo back exhaust from them!

If it were me I would stick to the more main stream dealers for these products. That may be hard to determine at this point I suppose but RollinSmoke, Sinister Diesel, Peak Diesel Performance, Performance Diesel Warehouse, Source Automotive, Diesel Power Products, BD Diesel, PDR.......

Sinister Diesel (MKM Customs is on that list, so I would say OK..

I have reviewed your order and you are correct, Thoroughbred is at fault. We serve hundreds of customers every day and strive to have impeccable customer service, but sometimes things go wrong. We are willing to give you a $100 dollar rebate on a future order in hopes that we can continue to serve you. If I can be of any further assistance you can email me directly at wmcginnis@thoroughbreddiesel.com

to the OP: valid gripe, I wouldn't have been happy as well
to the vendor: 20 days to take ownership..really ...BUT lots of credit for ultimately taking ownership publicly

I did recently buy from Thoroughbred, very small order compared to OP's, all went well

If you guys are looking for something and want decent customer service give the DTR store a call. 877-375-1956. We built this site and we aren't going anywhere. Lary or I will help you out as much as we can. You can also find the products at http://www.dodge-diesel.org.

If there is something that you can't find there, give us a call. You won't get better customer service anywhere else.

They erased profit by under cutting the entire market. This really shows why cheaper isn't better!
