Just wondering since I'm new to all the add ons, I see alot of info on the Smarty Jr, Edge and H & S products. Is anyone running the new Banks IQ? If so what is your opinions and what other mods were done or need to be done to use it? Not starting a which is better thread just looking for info. And is this a programmer that shows up on the computer at the dealer?

These (all) programmers don't just show up on the dealer computer. The dealer computers look for parameters, counts, and cycles in the ECM that get changed/erased by these programmers and this is the clue that there was a programmer at some point changing things. A bit of circumstantial evidence. The dealer would have to look for this really. Sorry, don't know anything about the Banks IQ.

 

Good to know, I thought there were differences in how they work with the ECM some replace it others work with it.

Actually, you are correct. A programmer is what I was speaking of such as the Smarty/H&S. The Edge (and maybe the Banks, I'm not sure) are what I'd call "modifiers" where they talk to the stock program and fool it.

I think the concensus is that the programmers are better and more reliable, but many are happy with their modifiers too. Not sure if a modifier can be tracked like a programmer can, but if one were to look at the "inputs" the stock program has seen and logged with a modifier, I would think one could say there was somthing "not acceptable" being employed.
