Another "newbie" EGR delete question

OK...just spent the last hour reading threads on deleting EGR. Right now I am running with the connector unplugged which results in a check engine light but as I understand this shouldn't cause any problems?

I want to "ease" my way in to full deletes. I also want to avoid any warranty isssues and arguments.

By just unplugging the EGR I picked up 2 mpg's around town.

Can I plug the EGR back in and remove the plunger as described on the MADS site to disable EGR and will this still cause a light or not?

I need to be as stealthy as possible and be able to go back to factory as quick as possible.

Thanks

Without a programer, think smarty does it, you will get check engine light.

The way the EDMs programmed if you just pull out the plunger you get another light, the lightning bolt and more codes than if you just unplug the EGR motor..

The Smarty even in the S mode disables the EGR.

Sounds like unplugging connector is the way to go for now?

I am saving up for a Smarty. It's my next big purchase.

You won't regret it. I ran mine in stock S mode for a good 3-4 months before the DPF fell off.. It gave the same mileage as the unplug, but got a little HP bump out of it. After the DPF got the shelf, well the mileage has paid for it. Plus its just cool to have a few extra HP..

I went the same route here with the S and then the ME versions of the Smarty. Same results and I love it!

You guys are killing me!! I have an 11' and can't do this because MADS has no Smarty for me. I have emailed them asking, WHEN??? I will even allow my truck for testing if shipping is paid to get the truck there. I just want it because 12.8mpg sucks. Plus, unless I am at full throttle this thing is a slug... But, in stock form, it is still better than a Ford Ranger. I am happy but anxious to MOD.!!

Just got an email from Stefano at MADS and he said they are working on a Smarty for our 2010 and 2011 trucks. They do not have a release date but will have a perfected unit with all the bugs out when released. As soon as its avail., I am getting it.
