Do you mean a different bolt size as in diameter? If that is all it is then shouldered bolts would prevent the misalignment you are worried about.

The motor we have here they switched from imperial to metric on it. I will try and get some pictures of what it looks like on the back of the engine. Probably wont be until monday though.

Mine has standard(imperial?) bolts. The dealership put a 6.7L on my 5.9 today. They said it was a direct fit/exchange.

You have me wondering now if they put a 5.9 flexplate in or if they actually did what they said. I googled the part # of the flexplate they put in but I can't find anything on it. The part # is 5015709-AB. I will owe one cold adult beverage to the first one to find out which flexplate this part # belongs to.

Plugged the above number in here (option 2 to search by factory part No):
https://www.dodgeparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html

Note that if you just search for "Drive Plate" you get two parts, one for $50ish for 5.9 and one for $80ish for 6.7. Me thinks you'll need the beverage yourself.

Item Number MSRP Core Price Price
5015709AB $434.00 $0.00 $310.80

Well, looks like once again they lied to me. Those people are DIRTBAGS! The mechanic that was working on my truck said " I ordered & am putting on the 6.7L flexplate for you". Oh well, this isn't the first time they lied to me. Glad I didn't pay for it. When the time comes I'll be getting the Black SFI approved BD flexplate. Jumper, if your ever in Texas, I got one in the fridge for you.

So there are a few conflicting results here still.

Can you put a 6.7 flexplate on a 5.9?

With the measuring we did here, I wouldnt. It will probably work for a while, but the runout in it will eventually hurt the front pump in the transmission.
