Did you guys remove the turbo or just drilled the hole with the turbo still attached to the exhaust manifold?

Just drilled through. No pilot hole deeper than 1/16"

I've been phoning around but I can't find any one that can build a "race" transmission for the RE68

I was thinking about running some power, one day with this 09 quad one day. Once I put a dent in it.

Dog, has your truck done a regen cycle since the smarty adjustment?

Hi. Isnt there a risk of all the cuttings getting into the turdo from drilling and tapping this hole? I need to do this too and worried about messing up the turbo.

Thanks
Dale M

Thanks

Just go slow, put a dab of moly grease on the tip of the drill bit to catch the shavings, and clean and reapply often.

There is always a risk for such things, but think it is pretty low. I have not heard of anyone having an issue with their turbo no matter how they chose to do the drilling. I used grease and kept the motor running to provide some positive pressure inside to help keep any chips from going in... You'll be just fine.

The drilling and tapping is not as bad as it sounds. Its a cast manifold so the chips are usually pretty small and light with 98% of them coming out of the hole before you punch through. Using some lube on the drill to retain the chips and make a clean cut is the key to keeping them from falling in near the end. Patience.

On the stock truck, the pyro makes a good DPF REGEN indicator so you can make sure the process is done before you park it in the dry grass.
