Zenon flares
I'm wondering about painting my flares before installing. The truck is white and the flares are black. From reading the instructions, painting them has do be done right. I'm wondering what others have done.
Thanks, Wetspirit

Your flares are made with a funky plastic that requires additives to the paint for it to stick. The best thing you can do is take the instructions with you when you decide on where to get them painted and ask if they are able to do it according to the instructions. A lot of plastic bumpers and body panels are made from the same stuff, so I would think any reputable body repair place would have the correct additives. Good luck.
This May be a silly question but,
Do these flares have to be painted?
I also have a white truck and have been thinking about getting black flares because I have seen several truck setup like that and thoought they looked good.
They dont appear to be painted.
Thanks, Gary

GDH,
They certainly don't have to be painted, in fact they might hold up better without paint because the paint won't get beat up with rocks and spray. But black on white will change the appearance quite a bit and I'm still deciding if I want that contrast.

on my 2nd gen flares, i just took them into the main body shop around here and they went out and got the paint code off of my truck and painted them. I had them install them also, i didnt want to mess with it. it turned out real good, but now im selling them, along with all the suspension, and tire mods in my sig, see classifieds
Just put my painted Zenon flares on. Check my pics. This is second truck I put Zenon flares on.The first time the flares were not prepped and painted properly and the paint flaked off, the second time they were done right. I was quoted $300 at one shop and $125 at another. Needless to say they came out beautiful. You don't have to paint them but I'd be willing to bet that if you get wax or cleaner on them they might end up faded and whitish looking.

NO. The 315 all terrains are some nasty rock throwers. And yes the flares do need to be prepped properly with special plastic or urethene prep products or you will do them over. Follow the instructions exactly and in the right steps.
