Will my mods make my truck beat a 04 F250?

I am looking to race a 2004 F250 at the 1/8 mile track in a couple weeks. What I have seen is he has a edge evolution, intake, and exhaust. His truck is auto and 4x4 and mine is a 6 speed and 4x4. My current mods are in my sig. plus my truck is the HO cummins. Will I be able to beat him in the 1/8 mile? I know I need a turbo but just dont have the $$ right now. What would be a good turbo for my setup? thanks

I would say you will spank him as long as you don't miss a shift or toast your clutch. Try to launch at about 15lbs of boost in 4 wheel drive and hold on.

Wow you got that much power from your mods in your sig.? I hope I am making that kind of power. I thought I might be making less.

I think it will be a good race, but with him doing a boosted launch and running an auto, he will leave you at the line. You will have to rely on your ponnies to catch and pass him, but in the 1/8th you dont have much room.

I have a Valair 3600 ceramic dual disk just installed last weekend with a short throw shifer, I think that might handle the boosted launches. What is the correct way to do a boosted launch? thanks

Get a line lock and burn down the clutch at the line starting out in 3rd gear.

Unless you get real good and consistent with 3rd gear boosted launches I would do a 2nd semi-boosted launch. Get to the line and rev your engine up and down from 2-3k to build 8 or so PSI boost. If you are running a sportsman tree leave just as the last yellow light comes on with a deep stage and if you stage shallow leave at a mature 3rd light. A pro tree... good luck, I hate those.

Anyway, dont worry about cranking out every gear, shift 2700-3k in the lower gears. Keep the throttle pinned and grab the next gear to keep boost up, using the clutch of course. I dont know if you will run him, some of those flowerpokes are pretty snappy out of the hole.

I dont know what your racing history is either but if its your first time at the track I would run a few times before you lined up. You will be as giddy as a school girl your first time and you need lots of concentration with the rowboat to cut a good light and hit your shifts. Above all, good luck and get it on video.

my brother use to be really big into 6.0's he had a ccdrw running 12.5's
i know his friends 03 excab would run 13.9's in the 1/4 with a edge box, there fast trucks with slight mods, yours being a 6 speed i think you will need a turbo, a clutch and some practice.
