we are making them ride used buses, remember we bought the used buses from Kentucky, because we have the state lottery to help our school systems out.

didja see the 60 minutes special on the schools beside Myrtle beach?

rain coming in, water standing in floor.

Got to love good old fightwood middle school. This reminds me of last school year when they fired all those white teachers for not understanding the culture. There is no discapline there.

Brentwood is a real joke down here. First they fired the white teachers. Needless to say this caused a major lawsuit. Then they started to send kids to other schools. This resulted in fights in the better schools in the district and lower scores on tests. Now this. I just cant figure out why SC is now 50th in education. Just goes to show that throwing money at a problem doesnt solve a thing.

Maybe I grew up in a different time but I was scared of my teachers and what they could do to me. I got suspended plenty of times and the outcome was never good. I would have never even dreamed of touching a teacher when I was going to school.

I would have liked to have had a teacher that wanted to have s..... I better leave that for another discussion

Does it really surpise anyone. There are no consequences to kids at school or at home. I got in a fight in middle school & the vice principal & teacher saw the whole thing from a second story window. The other kid & I both got swats from a big paddle with holes in it, & it made an everlasting impession on me.

I couldn't agree more. I caused my fair share of trouble...nothing major, but I did act up a fair bit. In my day, you knew doing wrong would get you in crap. If it was minor, I got chewed out in good shape (which actually meant something to me). If it was more major, or I didn't listen to the chewing out, I was grounded. If it was more major, or the grounding didn't work, I knew I would be feeling pain.

These days, what can you really do to a kid to make them listen? You tell them something and they don't listen. You can barely yell at them, because some crackpot lawyer will get you for verbal abuse. You can't MAKE them listen, because thats physical abuse. You can't force them to do what you want, because they have all kinds of rights, and they know it...they are taught in school that they have more rights than you do. Its no wonder i don't have any kids...I would be in jail if i did.

alright, can someone please explain to me how 6 12 year old 120 lbs kids can beat up a teacher? Personally I cannot understand that. Was it a woman? This just does not make sense to me. What am I missing here.

I don't know, and without being there I don't know whether to be proud at the students or not...

I'd personally like more details...

(At my school we had a teacher beat up a student once, that was a scandal...)

I still remember getting wacked in the arm with a yard stick for talking during nap time by my kindergarden teacher....I'm only 26, times sure changed quickly.

She never hit us that hard but it was just the fear factor of the big 'ol fat lady with a yard stick that kept us inline.

Now days a teacher can't even scold a kid with words without being sued for "emotional distress"

As for how 6-12 year olds beat up a teacher, I think your poundage might be skewwed a lil.

When I was 12 I was 5'-6" and weighed 180#. remember that cause it was first year playin football, and on my helmet and a couple of my friends they put a black stripe down the middle, which meant, to big to run the ball. This was a rec league rule Did not want us carrying everyone over the goal line and making it an unfair advantage.
