Will a 1000lbs worth of people make a difference?

I barely lost to a Modded 05 Acura RSX Type S from a roll last night, about 1 car length but he had (2) people and I have (5). Now I know for a car 1000lbs means a WHOLE LOT, how about our trucks? Including me, we all weighed about 1000lbs.

Of course it would. It takes engery to move an object. All 1,000 pound of your passengers.

Any weight reduction will make the vehicle accelerate faster. You don't see top fuel drag racers carrying their tool boxes in the back seat....What back seat?

I even leave the spare tire in the garage unless I travel somewhere.

Went thru some numbers quickly and here is what I came up with. accelerate your truck #7000 ,0-60 in 15 seconds= 1277 lbs force. To accelerate your truck at #8000, 0-60 in 15 seconds = 1459 lbs force or about 14% more force . I am gust guessing on weight, speed & times so don't yell at me . Just giving you an idea about the forces involved.

I remember hearing (this may not have been accurate at the time, and I might be mistaken in my recollection) that for every 100 lbs you could get out of a car, it was worth about .10 second in the quarter. Not real sure if it would make that large of a difference when talking trucks though.

Yes every 100 lbs = .10 sec up to a point where wind resistance comes into the mix.

I'm guessing on a truck like ours that would be neighborhood of 70ish? Where the wind resistance overcame the weight savings I mean...

Yeah That holds true in cars but I dont that its the same formuls when your working with a 7Klb diesel truck...I could be wrong though.

Dont worry about the RSX getting the best of you from a roll.

If you were staged at a red light in 4wd at 20psi of boost you would of destroyed him.

RSX have nothing's in the lower rpm and doesnt come alive until 5K. Im guessing he was in his power band and thats why he won..

I wouldnt be ashamed.

I killed a late model prelude doch v-tech with gauses every way on the freeway with a Smarty alone. That was until my speedlimiter stopped my fun at 112mph...I gotta wire a switch soon..
