Why should I buy the Smarty Jr.?

Other than everyone likes it. Why should I get it? Will it help in the low end with towing because the Power Pup I have now just doesn't do it for me! What are some great benifits of this programmer?

I just installed mine today.

The truck's driveability IS improved. The power gains are there, although not quite as much as I was expecting. I adjusted for my tire size, which was way off and checked my speedo with GPS and it was dead on after the Smarty adjustment. So far the fuel mileage looks to be good, certainly not worse.

The downside for me is the smoke. I like smoke when I'm in control of it, not so much when I'm not. I started on level one and didn't notice any real additional smoke. I came back and loaded level 3 and the smoke was just too much, I don't even feel good about driving it with that much smoke constantly pouring out even at low speeds. Level 2 resulted in slightly less smoke, but it's not by much. I think it's too much smoke for an everyday driver around town, but that's JMO.

I'm back to level 1 and I'm hoping to see some significant mileage gains. If there are little or no gains, then I'd say the Smarty is a waste for the everyday Joe like myself who isn't into smoke shows and drag races. The added power is a good option to have, but it comes at a price.

I'm gonna save some coin and get one in a month. So are you guys saying on the 03-04 models it doesn't smoke bad. My truck now doesn't smoke at all and wouldn't mind "some smoke"!!

The difference in power is AMAZING. Throttle response instantaneous. They should come from the factory like this. You can surprise anyone who comes up on you thinking your just some stupid streetdozer....

And my smoke is almost nonexistant. Only time I get smoke is hard acceleration, doesnt even smoke when I locked in OD and give it some juice to speed up a bit.....

Just keep it off the performance level if you want a long-running tranny!
