Anyone else noticing this?

Yes. This is a bad design and will cause #5 to burn. I've heard of stock trucks even burning #5 because of this. An ATS manifold is a must on a 3rd gen.

I would let them try and find something its going to be a hit or miss type of deal just cross your fingers and hope for the best. Just deny deny deny.
The dealer was working with us. They knew we had the programers on thier. They put the truck together and let us know they could not do it, they have never done it before and a crhysler tech would have to come down and look at it. So in doing so we could take it to another shop that has done it and get it warrentied.

John, thanks for the information, as soon as we have a look inside and see what is wrong with the engine to see what we need. I'll give them a call.

I agree they shouldnt see the edge box, just be a good test and see how the smarty does under these conditions, take it in and hope for the best. If not then plan on fixing it your way.

Well we go to disassemble the engine tonight. Removed the head and everything looked good. Problem ended up being in cyl number one dealer wasnt thinking right, they did put a new injector in cyl number one. Pulled oil pan down and pushed piston number one out, found the top ring broken and inbetween the center and oil ring, parts of the piston was broke. Inspected the cylinder walls and may have found a crack in the cyl. We're are gona see what size pistons we can possible get to bore to that size to see if the crack goes away, or we may have to go with a new short block.

if the cyl. does have a crack in it you can pull the engine and have a sleeve put in the number 1 cyl.

I called a local equipment company that does cummins engines, he quoted us the sleeve job for $200 plus the sleeve and cleaning the engine. Now all we need is a piston. I think this is the rout we are going to take to get the truck back on the road. We'll have to wait and see once we start boaring the block. Thanks for all the help again guys.
