Who has fiberglass fenders on their 3rd gen?

I think I'm going to move up to 37's and glass fenders when my current Toyos are worn, but I'm afraid the backspacing of my current wheels may tuck the wheel/tire combo too far under the extended fenders. Does anyone have glass fenders and can tell me how much farther than stock they stick out? Pics would be swell...thanks!

I'm in the same situation, however I'm worried about the cost of having to swap to 4.10 gears too. Fortunately I only have like 4k miles on my extreme A/Ts so I have some time to think about it and save! I believe the BS on my wheels are 4.75". I had to trim my stock front fenders just to fit my 35"s with 3" lift.

A good friend of mine has the DRC race fenders on his rig. I will ask him how far they stick out. They look like they stick out 2"-3" further than stock.

ok...just asked him...he said the stick out 3-3.5 inches further than stock fenders at the furthest point. They are not quite as wide down by the firewall though.

njmaier,

Can you get some info on his wheels and tires? Like what's the backspacing and width, and how far do they tuck in from the widest point of the fender?

What I'm trying to avoid is having the the fender stickout too far, making it look like my tires need to be pushed out a couple inches. Thanks!

The bottom lip of the fender is really in the same place...you will not be able to clear anything more than your stock sheet metal can.

Food for thought...or buy a few sawzall blades.

Not the bottom lip c., but the center of the fender, directly above the centerline of the wheel. I know I may have issues with the tire rubbing at the rear where the fender meets the cab, but I think this can be resolved with a set of Carli's longer control arms. What do you think?

He's running 37x13.50x17 Toyo MTs on stock rims. They are tucked completely under the fender. I think it would look better if his wheels stuck out a bit further than they do. There is about 1/2" -1" distance from the outer edge of the tire to the outer edge of the fender if memory serves.

In my friend's case he has a Kore Race suspension (2"-2.5" front lift) with his 37x13.50x17 Toyos on stock rims, and stock control arms. After the DRC race fenders and removing the inner fender liner he never hit sheet metal or anywhere else...full lock to full lock. Now if he had a different backspaced wheel it might rub but it never has in it's current config.

The DRC race fenders are narrower than stock between the firewall and rear edge of the tire.

Oh, sweet, If that's the case my wheel width and backspacing should look just about right.

Great info njmaier. Maybe I won't have to pony-up the $1290 for 1/2" longer control arms. Thanks again for the help!

a link for the fiberglass fenders, http://www.glassworksunlimited.com/

I have been thinking about it as well.

I run 37s now with the stock fenders, but I did do some mods to the lower fender. I have also thought about longer lower control arms for the rear fender contact. The DT ones look interesting as well ar carli's.

let us know what you do.

Will do.

By the way, I have some experience with Glassworks dating back about 10 yrs now. The owner's name was/is Tim (not sure if he still owns it) and is a good guy. He made fenders, a hood and bed sides for my cousins Toyoto pick-up and the fit and finish were excellent. At that time I think he was a one man show. It looks like he's doing really well now.

i think the rear fenders look good as well. Think they are short bed only. I emailed them once about it, but got no reply.
