Wheel size question

I am looking to get the American racing polished Mojave wheel. I am lost in regards to wheel sizing. I want to go with the stock size. Are 17x8, 8/6.5
0mm offset, 4 1/2" backspace the correct ones to order??? From what I have researched, these are correct for my truck. Any help would be appreciated, cause I dont want to have the wrong size delivered and deal with returning them...TIA

Nope, those are the wrong backspacing. If you put those on they will stick out almost 2" farther than the stockers. You need at least 5.5" backspacing. My KMC XD Series Hoss are 17x9 with 5.7" backspacing and stick out about an inch.

The Mojaves are a nice looking wheel. I had a set of polished Mojaves with black bead-lock rings on my black Titan...looked sweet!

Thanks for the quick response..I'd like to get these ordered. A 17x8 wheel would work though? I also want to put the stock michelins on the rim until I can afford new tires. So I need the following: 17x8, 8/6.5, 0mm offset, and atleast 5.5" backspacing???? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to get this right. Thanks again.

I have looked everywhere and cant find those wheels with anything other than the 4.5" backspacing. What, if any, negative side effects would there be with those wheels? Would it look bad sticking out that far?

i am running American Eagle 114s 20x8.5 with a +20mm offset or a 5.475 backspacing. I clear 35s with no rubbing with a 2 in leveling kit..believe me it took a long time to figure out the right BS/offset to make it work..Jason

I want to keep everything stock(as far as sizing), and I want to keep the stock size tires. Will these rims work for me or should I look around some more and see if I can find others with more backspacing?

What about 17x9 wheels...I found them with 5.5" backspacing. Will my stock tires fit these? I do tow alot so I dont want to compromise strength.

I would keep looking. If you're sticking with the stock tires I'd look for 6" backspacing. Good luck!

There are a few reasonably priced wheels that are very close to the stock backspacing and offset. These I can remember.

These are all 17x8.5 with 6" Backspacing and +32mm Offset

I don't believe any of those Pro Comp wheels exist. Someone posted they called Pro Comp because nobody had them, and Pro Comp told him they decided not to make them. But I'd check with Pro Comp direct to make sure.

edd209, I checked out that website, nice wheels, but too bling bling for me. Ive looked around, and I really like the mojaves.

Man, I didnt think this would be this complicated...let me ask this, does anybody know the exact wheel size(dimensions) of our stock wheel?

ptgarcia,

I appreciate you hanging in there with me. I found a set of american eagles. they have an offset of +2 and a backspace of 5, but it is a 17x9 wheel. Would that be close to what I need. I feel stupid making a big deal about this, but I really dont know anything about wheel offset and backspacing etc. Thanks for the help

ignore offset and just worry about backspacing.. stock wheels [aluminum & chrome steel] are 17x8 with 6" backspacing..

you will want to keep close to 6" backspacing on what ever wheels you get..

if you get a 17x8" wheel with 5" backspace, the wheel will stick out 1" more than stock.
if you get a 17x9" wheel with 6" backspace, it will stick out 1" more than stock
if you get a 17x9" wheel with 5" backspace, the wheel will stick out 2" more than stock...

get it???

I did not know that about the Pro-Comps, I will check with my buddy at 4WheelParts tomorrow and see what the story is.

I think the stock wheel spec is 17x8 with 6.1" Backspacing and +40mm Offset. If that is not exact it is very close.

The Center Line wheels have increased in price considerably since they were released. I think they had a $219 or $229 special for a while.
