Whats better handle cover? plastic or stainless?
whats better foor door handle covers? id like a 5 piece set (4 doors and tailgate). i know they attach with 3m tape but what will hold better over time? stainless steel or chrome abs plastic? what name brand also? putco, bully, etc...
Do you really want to grab anything stainless on a hot day? I sure as hell wouldn't.
My wife's Blazer has black cast aluminum door handles, and they are painful to open on any day above 85 degrees. Stainless, even though they would not be black, will hurt on a hot, sunny day.

I have the plastic stick on type. I wish I could remove them. They are kinda sharp in places and have a uncomfortable edge to them. They are worn down and I cannot get them to shine up worth a darn.
I've had the stainless ones on mine since 03 (dealer installed) and still look like brand new. I did have to use epoxy after a couple of years on some of them.
They have never gotten to hot to touch or even uncomfortable to the touch even when lived in Florida.

My Son has the Putco ones on his 2004.5, they have been on his truck going on 4 years now - look as good as the day they were installed, he has had no problems with them coming loose, not hot to the touch in 100+ temps.
I've been considering putting a set of the billet chrome door handles on, they are much more expensive, but I thought trying the Putco stainless stick-ons would let me see if I liked them and the look first.
The black plastic handles are a PITA to keep black and looking good. They fade to a dark gray quickly in the desert sun, look terrible.
If you clean the plastic REAL GOOD, stick them on, then heat with a heat gun pressing them down well, they stick like they own the spot they are on.

Had them on my truck and after a year they looked like hell. Faded and wouldn't polish up. They don't wrap around, so they make the handle fatter, and the edge isn't what I'd call sharp, but it's not blended in. So when you open the doors you can really tell it's a cover. I managed to get mine off with some effort, but destroyed them in the process. I bought them off eBay and I was going to return them since they had a lifetime warranty, but I'll be damned if I can get the guy to return an email. The company won't respond. After a zillion emails I got one response and that was they don't really care. So I'm just screwed. I'd say run.
