What year is Best 3rd Gen???
[QUOTE=JCLeary;1923318]I had an '03, and now have an '07.
If I had to do it again, I'd find a pristine '05. I think they have the best combination of interior ('06 and up suck) and power potential. The 325/600's are better out of the box for big hp.
I agree with you on the interior. I did like the looks and interior better with my 05. I just think they are better looking trucks in general. if mine leaves and I get the chance to get another one im going too

Thanks for the input guys... I'm really leaning toward 03-05 mainly because I can get a good deal on them. I would love to have a Megacab but not sure I can find one with the options I want in the Price range I want to be in.
The TST is very much a niche product, and also pretty hard-core. It single-handedly vaporized the clutch on my '03, while all other boxes I tried didn't hurt it a bit. Most people aren't looking for that much power, so the market is pretty small. My feeling is that they're probably looking ahead and focusing on 6.7's and leaving 5.9 performance alone. Who knows? I wonder how big the waiting list on their website is? I bet they have a threshold in mind, like 300-500 on the list (as the actual comittment rate when available is probably 25%) before spending the time to figure it out...
But then, there's the Adrenaline coming. And Quad stated that it will be a TST crusher. I can't wait to see that!
I have a 07 5.9 and i love it. I had a chance to buy a 07 with the 6.7 and factory exhaust brake, but i wanted to see how they do first. just watch your high pressure fuel pump for leaks. Mine only has 6500 miles and is leaking do to the cold weather we have.
I guess I'm an odd ball. I like the 04.5. You get the 325/600, good auto trans option, or the NV5600 (better OD than G56) with a regular flywheel, not that DMF junk.
The lift pump is on the engine (which is garbage and will leave you on the side of the road when it dies) but being on the engine makes it easy to replace if you stay stock. It also makes an Airdog 100 a plug and play upgrade and you don't even have to drop or modify the tank.
The intercooler is all metal, no plastic tanks.
It responds very well to mods and has a 4" exhaust.
But then again I am a little biased

You can make more power and have more options with the 04.5+, rather than the 03/04s, and the 06.5+ have some ecm issues to work out with certain programmers/modules.
Scary Larry was built just for the 05 auto, I know it will work on the 06s but it works best on a 05 auto, and that program has made alot of power for quite a few people out there.
The only reason I go over a 06 for an 05 is just the Scary Larry.

Gotcha, was just making sure I wasn't missing something. I agree with you on the 05, I have one and it makes good power for very little mods. Also heard the 05's have bigger valves but not 100% sure on that.

I like my 04.5 sport. I agree with someone earlier that said the 05 have an intank pump which is good if your leaving it stock, but if you want to put a better adjustable pump it makes it harder. i think you have to drill a new hole but just a thought.
