Buy the Sr POD on sale now. Your DMF clutch will hold sw#3 for awhile but a clutch is inevitable. If you intend to use the POD to the max,an aftermarket fuel upgrade as well as a clutch will be necessary. With my camper,I'm stuck on sw#1,but it's a huge improvement over stock.

Why wait till your warranty is up to start having fun with your truck? Not being a smarta$$, just that none of us are guaranteed 2morrow. I voided my Warranty before 8K miles, and don't regret a minute all the fun and money I have frittered away on my truck. Just hate to see a fellow diesel head put off all the fun for 50K miles. Yeah, I would like to have a warranty, but can't have your cake and eat it too. I say get the SR. & eat cake.JMO

Smarty?

Bob gave you sound advice. The guys saying go big have the mods to support it. You said you have no plans for that. You're asking for trouble without the supporting cast. Think HUGE bucks fixing the things you are about to tear up. Modding a truck is a process and it isn't cheap and it is a LOT more than throwing on the most powerful option out there. Think with your brain and not your foot. My $.02.

Get the SR. the first time. You then have the higher settings down the road if you want or need them. My truck gets better mpgs on the higher hp setttings if I keep my foot out of it. As far as not having the mods to support the sr, your clutch will last if you use your head while driving. I have over 100,000 miles on the stock clutch and I run #7 every day unless I am towing. I don't want the pod cause I don't wan't to keep the smarty in my truck all the time. If you want to make it adjustable, stack it with a mp-8 or quad or another tuner. Just my $0.02

Ot-of-here makes a good point-

if i blow the guts out of my truck, it's not that big of a deal, besides hiding the repair bill from the wife- i've got extra cars.

....though she might wonder why i insist on driving a clapped-out 150k rodeo around...

the smarty is the gateway to a painful addiction with a bad ramp effect- i have to have more, what i had isn't enough... and a hefty price tag.

....care to see how far the rabbit hole goes?

/[bad cliches]

Buy the Sr POD on sale now.
If you're going to get it on sale, do it soon because it's not going to be on sale much longer.

Our g-56 DMF's are junk compared to you NV5600 guys. They just won't hold much extra power. The SR/POD is still the way to go IMO.

I don't think some people understand that the Smarty SR SW#1 setting is 30HP. Not gonna tear up too much with an extra 30 HP............ If you can spare the extra money, go for it. If you can't, the JR will be an excellent purchase too...
