What size drop hitch....

Guys I pull a 20' Bassboat and a enclosed trailer. Right off what size drop do you guys use for pulling your boats and trailers? I have a stock 06 MegaCab. I picked up a 6" yesterday but it's been pouring down rain for 2 days and I having even looked at it yet.

Thanks

Measure

You can look here for instructions http://www.etrailer.com/faq/ballmount.asp
Before I went to my 20"s I used a 4" drop that worked well but now I need alittle more so I'm about to order this - http://www.textrail.com/index.cfm?fu...&categoryID=87 It all depends on the height of your trailer, just be sure you get it level when hooked. And spend alittle on a good hitch and ball, after all it is the only thing keeping that expensive boat where it's supposed to be.
I ran a wrecker for a few years and I picked up a couple of boats that came loose, it wasn't pretty LOL. LCH

I run a 4" drop on mine. With light loads a 6" would prolly be better, but I would rather have my light loads runnin a little uphill so that the heavier loads ride level.

BTW with a boat like that I would THINK that the 6" would be your best bet to get it to ride level.

If its a single axle, it doesn't matter much. A tandem, the trailer should sit level or the front down a tad.
It depends on the trailer. I tow 3 different tandems and need 3 different drops.

Hey Buckshotmckee, What size is that drop? I noticed you have a 3" lift. I'm stock except for the 20's and 33's. I was going to order the 5" but I think I might need the 10". By measuring I think one trailer is a little low for the 5". LCH

Here is a photo of my Rapid Hitch 10" drop. I have a low enclosed trailer that requires a big drop. And the trailer is still at an incline. Next step is a wrap around bumper with a drop reciever.

TexasRamMan, The 2" lift that your showing in your sig, is it a 2" leveling kit or a 2" lift all around the truck? If it's a leveling kit I think I will need the 10" like you. Thanks,LCH

You won't need the 10" unless you like to make grooves in the road. I purchased mine just before I put my lift on and it was dragging all the time. Then I would flip it upside down and it was just tall enought that when I put my tailgate down it put a small ripple in it. I have a 6" lift with 20's and 37" toyo's and my 10 drop is perfect. I have to have it all the way down when I tow my smaller 14' enclosed single axle but when I tow my 29' interstate it has to be up on the second stage to even the trailer out. I have towed it lower but there is too much weight and it bounces like no tomorrow.

Here is some pic's of my trailer it is backed up a slight incline!

And my hitch

All depends on the trailer height I use a 11" drop with one of my trailers and 8" on my other with 4" lift and 35's.
