What should a guy look for?running out on 1/4 tank

im taking truck back to dealer again for tank removal. they installed a FASS system and now i run out of fuel at 1/4 tank. if they find a problem im off the hook for the bill. if they find nothing i have to pay for labor a 2nd time to remove tank. i can be there and watch they said. what should i look for? loose hose on pickup? clamp? i originally had the intank lift pump upgrade from dealer before the fass. i know now the fass return line dumps into my filler neck. is this ideal?

You can do this... If they put the draw straw in the canister, then none of the below will help...
Have at least a half of a tank. Pull the bed. You need 3 other people to help you, or an overhead hoist. Pull the fuel canister. Find out how far the draw straw is from the bottom of the the tank. If it is sitting right on it, then it's too long, and it is creating a suction to the bottom of the tank. I doubt this is the case.

Chances are, the straw is too short, they measured it with the tank on the ground. Make sure the straw is short. Then, get someone to follow you over there so you don't get hammered for no brake lights by the cops, and you show them it's too short. Don't let them touch the truck. Then tell them that you want a new draw straw and the labor it took you to pull the bed, or you're going to small claims court. Get a witness.

Regardless, if the truck is running out of fuel now that they did something, it's their fault.

Haven't we been down this road before?
Didn't you say they installed the FASS to draw from the factory feed of the canister and you think the factory pump is still in the canister?
Didn't you say they ran the AD return to the filler neck?

Like I said, run the FASS return to the canister and you'll be fine (but I hope they removed the intank pump).

i dont wanna sound dumb but what is bad about dumping fass return fuel into the inlet spout versus the top of the tank?should they of used a aluminum draw straw or a hard non flexible line?

Like I said in the other thread, you're sucking fuel out of the canister and when the fuel is low (below the top of the canister) you're sucking it dry. They need to plumb the FASS return to the canister, NOT the filer neck as I've explained in the link in my signature, have you read it?

Hooking the feed to the AD to the stock feed with the factory pump still in line cannot be a good thing, it's gotta be hard on your FASS.

I think the shop you went to is a joke considering the crappy job they did and especially for what they charged you.

the canister allows fuel in too slowly, once its below the top..
your pump pulls more then comes into the canister, so if you plumb the return into the canister it will keep up with the pump...

my take on this, if wrong please some1 correct me...
