What is needed to swap a G56 to a NV5600? Anybody done this?
Is there a different adapter plate for the NV vs the G56?
Will my tranfer case fit the NV?
In which year NV's had the same shaft as the G56?
Any and all help appreciated.
Keegan

You know, I remember the first time I read that. Kind of ironic since I grenaded mine awhile ago.
He doesn't go into great detail about it though.

What about using the NV4500? Better parts availability and lower price. Lots of people sled pulling with those. Using the NV5600 input shaft and clutch setup.

I don't know much about the NV4500, but its possible. What size output is on it because I don't want to buy a new transfer case for it?
I also drive ALOT of hwy miles and don't want the RPM's to get too high. But as I said, I don't know much about the NV4500.

If I was going to the trouble of swapping to a different trans it would definatly be to an NV4500 much cheaper more reliable and when built right can handle alot of power not to mention they dont make the NV5600s anymore an the ones that are still out there are very $$$.

Can anybody educate me on the shafts I will need to use in my truck to keep the same Tcase?
Is that possible with a NV4500?
I guess I'm looking for 1 3/8" shafts?

The NV4500 comes with a 1.25" input shaft and a 12" clutch but many people upgrade(such as Southbend) to a 1.375" input(same as NV5600) and the 13" NV5600 clutch.
If my NV5600 had taken a dump I would of definitely picked up a NV4500 and upgraded it.
Take a look at http://www.southbendclutch.com/dodge.html
I personally like the NV4500. Far quicker shifting then the NV5600 or G56 while being smoother then the NV5600.
Just my 2 cents.
Also, 03 and 04 non Standard Output models were available with the NV4500 so parts for swap should be readily available.

An NV4500 will bolt right in place of an NV5600 including the transfercase so I would say that it should match up, if you put the 4500 in you will need to shorten your front drive shaft and lengthen the rear shaft about 6in each.
