Question What exhaust sounds the best?

I have a '05 3500 and I'm trying to figure out what to do with the exhaust. The old trucks sounded great when you just took the muffler off, but the new engines don't sound the same. I'm wanting to get the sound of the old trucks out of mine is there an exhaust system that will make the newer trucks sound like the older ones. I appreciate any help I can get.

Don't believe you'll have any luck there. 3rd gens went through a "3rd event"
shot of fuel right before ignition which quieted them down. They won't sound
like 2nd gens whatever exaust you put on.

As far as exhausts straight pipe will be loudest but real raspy. Nelson 51" muff
will probably be quietest. You'll probably get bad drone with the louder muffs.
Not very pleasant on long trips. Lots of stuff in between. MBRP,Aeroturbine,Magnaflow, are some names to look up.

Welcome also.

I just bought a RokkTech Silent Muffler. Haven't had the chance to mount it yet and may not right off the bat. This is a HUGE muffler , I think it measured 4' in length. It says in the instructions on how to mount this muffler so no drone, good noise upon low RPM and getting on it, quiet during normal cruising. Also recommends having the CAT still there or some LOUD off road muffler in front of this muffler. Probably so it will break up the waves coming into this muffler. So we shall see. I don't know of anyone else with the RokkTech muffler. Sure would like to hear more about the different mufflers.

Some day though, hopefully a MBRP Dual Cools will be on the truck. Just need that $$ first so went with the RokkTech for now to see and test.

The 4040 Aeroturbine on my 2006 sounds awesome. Real deep tone, slightly louder than stock cruising on the highway, but stomp into it and she roars...........love it.

Some one told me the flowmaster system was the way to go it would be nice if there was some where to hear some sound bytes. Any one know anything about the flowmaster system? Is there some where to hear some sound bytes of different exhausts.
