warranty void if chipped???

how does dodge know if a truck has been chipped??? they said warranty will be VOID if chipped... how can the tech tell if the chip is taken out before going to the dealer for warranty work???

very curious about this since I just bought a 04.5 HO 600 DRW QC today and already looking into doing BIG mods to it..

any experiences, help, comments appreciated very much!!!

JUST DO IT!
They can't tell if you have had a TST or Edge box.
But, if you start reprogramming stuff (ie bullydog), there will probably be a greater
chance of a dealer finding a problem with your ECM.
IMO.

I haven't had my truck back to the dealer since installing all of my goodies.
Just find a good local mechanic who will work with you on modifying your diesel.

Before you wade into the world of BOMBing, please memorize the following mantra:

I AM MY OWN WARRANTY STATION!

Why should DaimlerChrysler warrant a failure related to any unauthorized modification? My owner's manual states very clearly that they won't. If that bothers you, don't BOMB your truck.

The dealer I bouight my truck from voids the warranty for a box. Now, the dealer in another town down the road, installs the boxes, and backs the factory warranty.

It depends on the dealer. I am my own warranty station, but I always have been. I can't get any new vehicle without trying to make it better, faster, stronger.... The 6 million dollar truck!

Take a look at my truck, would you warranty it? Injectors, turbo, and ATS manifold on the way. And boxes of other stuff hidden around the house that have yet to be attached. When will this insanity END!!!!

It still doesnt matter what the local dealer Service Manager says. Any major WARRANTY repairs are going to be reviewed by DC. DC is the one that has to say OK(In Writing) to any mod before you can be comfortable.

Quit trying to have the cake and eat it too. Pay for what YOU break. I wish it were the other way around, I think I already broke something.
