No such thing as a stupid question. I enjoy coming on here and I learn something new everyday. The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked. I just didn't want you to think you'd be able to pull anything over on a dealer because they are getting better and better as to what to look for on trucks to help " Daimler " get out of paying warranty repairs. Like it was said before, they are sending files to Detroit over the internet before warranties are approved.

My dealer said the only problem would be if I removed the Cat - everything else is cool (programmer, box, intake, muffler delete, etc)

My brother lives in Fort Meade - played football there in high school.

Peace,

Variation of the theme. I put the Juice with Attitude on my truck and use it mainly for the instrumentation and have it set on 1 or 2. I live at 2500 feet and pull my trailer up and down the mountains up to 9000 feet so I am already down on power and what little is added back just brings me to stock, if that, so I am not abusing the truck.

Now if my AC stops or the brakes rattle or a tie rod fails there is no connection between the installed box and the warranty claim. I pull the box to avoid the hassle they may say ALL warranty is void as I abused the truck when you really can not get there from here.

So where am I screwing DC??? I'm not I just want what is broken fixed. Where does it end.

BTW for the guy that commented about K&N filters, my local dealership sells and installs K&N cold air intakes so there is no way they could void it on that one.

In line boxes as long as they are removed are undetectable unless seen physically by the service department. Cold Air intakes that replace the stock Filter housing where mass air flow sensor has to be removed and placed into the aftermarket intake will void the warranty but most dealers will let this slide as long as a diamler chrystel star service rep is on the premises (only called out for bisare situations). Exhaust if cat back is ok anthing turbo back is warranty issue. Now the tricky one programmers as for bullydog, ppe they void it straight up they zero starts, mileage, and idle times along with leaving fueling footprints in the computer Smarty and Diablo Sport Clear starts, mileage and idle times but do not leave any footprints in the ecm harness. Now they may ask or state that they found a programer on the vehicle and all you have to say is prove it if they bring up the zeroed starts, idle times, and mileage tell them any scanner will zero all of these out when used to check or clear codes but they will not find anything in the ecm to prove that a programer was in the vehicle so they will have to warranty the vehicle if you were using the diablo and the smarty. If you were using the bullydog, or ppe they will void warranty and can prove that they were on the vehicle. I was told by technicians from diablo b/c we had issues last week with this tell them to prove it and guess what they couldnt prove that we had diablo in the truck. I have gathered all this info from first hand experiences and my brother is a service technician for dodge here in my hometown.

What about the flash packs i tried it for about a week and then went with the edge for the gauges. the flash pack said it copys the orignal then replaces it when removed does it leave tracks? what about the edge when it is removed will it leave traces as well and how long does the info last on the ecm it cant have a endless memory can it or is it just a flash of specific event material?

I'm lucky to have an AWSOME dealership close by..

I just have them order everything for me be it, chips, programmers lift kits you name it, hell they'll put on anything i bring to them and put it on for me and warranty it for me..

There getting ready to do the cam and springs and manifold and injectors and fuel pump and turbo and new boxes and programmers and warranty it all for me..

They even bought the tool to pull the cam just to do my truck

They mod my Diesel, my Jeep, my Magnum..

The best thing I ever did at my local dealer was go in at lunch time when they were working on my truck and bought the whole shop pizza. If you get on the tech's good side, it is the best place to be. I work at a GM dealer on Duramax's all day (thats why I have a Cummins) and I have never turned someone in for a tuner. The guys in the shop are mostly gearheads and like to see what people are doing. If you burn a big hole in a piston, it doesn't matter how much pizza you buy....warranty void.
