Valve bodies-what do they do?
After driving my 06 for a little bit now I have noticed that the shifting is a little erratic and not very smooth. Now I know that a firm shift is good but I know that it could be a lot smoother coming from my old Chevy. I have heard that a new valve body will help with this. I will get a new complete assm from ATS or somebody like that, but what exactly does the VB do and what kind of changes will I expect to see? One other question, what will a new VB do to the warranty on the tranny? Any info will be appreciated.-Frog
The valvebody is the brains of an automatic trans. It converts inputs into commands. Actually, the vb is what makes a trans good or bad.
You will loose the warantee of the trans by changing the VB. You most likely will not need a warantee if you change it!
Call the vendors. Not all of them do everything to the VB that is available to make a better trans.
Ask about these things. (there may be more questions)
Oil in park. Inceased flow. Raised pressure. Shift timing. Drilling holes in the cases. ( BAD to do).
