does anyone make a upgraded nv5600 like better shafts better syncro's stornger gears?? mine getter were it does shift hardly at all when sitting still or do you think i just need to change the fluid it has 116000 miles on it and has never been changed?
thanks danny
thanks danny
Might want to consider a new clutch also. The fingers on the pressue plate could be getting weak and not completely disengaging the disk causing there to be a very slight grab on the flywheel, enough to make it hard to get in gear but not enough to make the truck try to move.Changing the fluid wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Keeping the fluid changed and in good shape is CRITICAL with an NV5600 or you WILL have problems. At a minimum it should be changed every 50k, sooner if you do a lot of towing.
I would for sure change the fluid it is easy to do. I suggest getting the little fluid pump from the auto parts store to pump it in helps out alot. the plug to put the fluid in you will need a big hex head for also but changing it yourself you will know its done right
thanks guys i guess i will change the fluid in it and hope to get a few more years out of it i would like to convert it over to an automatic i called ats today about changing it over and for a stage VI transmission and the standalone kit it will be about 10000.00 dollars which there upgrade nv5600 is 5000.00 and a new double disk clutch will run right at 2000.00 dollars so for 3000.00 more i can have a fully built automatic

someone in CA makes custom billet output shafts but i cant remember the name of their place. also you can get the coolers from geno's. they're kinda like a deep pan for auto's, they add 1 qt capacity and they got cooling fins on them. I dont see why they wouldnt help, I just havent found a reason to fork out $150 for them yet.
Dwitt,
I just got done rebuilding mine for the 2nd time. Getting the parts is no trouble. I keeps taking the teeth off of 6th gear. (I have to learn not to keep screwing around when I'm towing heavy) Anyways I sent the new parts to a Cryogenics company in Mooresville N.C. So far so good.
I also up graded to a DD clutch. Last time I put in a Single SB fe but it wouldn't hold to power so I went with a Valor 3600 LB. So far no troubles.
Good luck,

There are no real upgrades for the Nv5600. The output shaft on an Nv5600 is the same as the mainshaft. EEP sells an "HD" mainshaft end but thats only after you break the existing mainshaft end. Once you break it again you have to get a completely new mainshaft so its more of a band aid.
If you are having trouble shifting I would advise like others have said to change the fluid. That should be a given after 100k miles.
But really I would say your hydro's are probably wearing out of they are the original unit.
