Ultimate rig
Post below what everyone would think to be an ultimate towing rig (it should be reasonable).
My ultimate would be a 3500 quad cab laramie long bed 4x4 6 speed, with a tst stacked with ez, 100hp injectors( or bigger if they make it) with ranch hand front and rear bumpers and rhino lining, With chromewheel.com wheel adapters with 24 inch alcoloa wheels and ford f550
suspension warn winch arctic air twin turbos and f450 fold down rear seat into a bed thing. A exhaust brake or pacbake.

good gosh, that would be quite the rig. but would have quite the price tag too! dunno about the 24''ers. maybe 19'5's. im not much on the quad cab for towing. easier to back a tralier with a regular cab. why the f550 suspension? twins sound good! exhaust brake is a must

well i said f550 suspension for towing standards it would be hella stiffer than a 3500 but you could run more wait on the rear end without it saging and while towing a load the suspension really wouldnt be stiff at all. and i said quad cab just for that fold down bed from a f450 would fit so if you were in the hotshot business you could stop at a rest area and have a nice nap

I have what I feel is an awesome tow rig but there is always room for improvement.
04 3500 quad cab Laramie sport 4x4 dually 6 spd.
I have a 66 gallon aux tank with inline filter and pump, Advanced air hitch 5th wheel, ride rite air bags, 17" Toyo HT E rated tires, Bilstein shocks, KORE front springs and blocks, Road Armor front and back...in BLACK, Southbend FE clutch, Ramifier stacked with a BDDL, Pacbrake, 4" exhaust with a 51" Donaldson muffler and some lights...two 1 million candle power Light force on the front with 5 lens choices, PIAA driving and fogs in the bumper and PIAA rear back up lights.
Here is what I would change...
I would go 4x2, less weight, lower for a 5th wheel, 19.5 inch wheels, in cab air ride controls, propane, cam, sun roof, Touch screen mapping/GPS, go back to white instead of black but still get the Laramie but it would be the mega cab in a dually...so I guess I will be waiting a year or two. Stay with a manual transmission.
Oh yeah...Brakesmart controller too...got that on the 04.
If I need to tow heavier...Something in the medium duty lines.

This is (Rick D)'s truck. To me, that is the ultimate rig with two exceptions. I would prefer the 3500SRW instead of 2500. And I would also prefer a DTT Auto tranny instead of the 6 speed. Nice job Rick.

Dodge hasn't made the ultimate rig for me. Hopefully its in the works. Basically a Dodge 4500 or 5500 with a 8.3L. However for me, a new model yr, 6-speed, 3500 4x4 Mega cab, on board air, GPS, nice stereo, and if I had the extra money to burn, I would swap in the Quadra steer form a Chevy I did a little research on this and on Delphi's web site, they had a Ford truck doing the testing videos. So I'm gonna say that Delphi designs the rear steering as a "package" and Chevy horded it up first, since most Chevy drivers get in wrecks
