Does anyone know if it is OK to run Stanadyne every tank? And will it alleviate the ULSD problem?

Why would it be dirty??

Hello CamperAndy,

Likely because of the greater cleaning action of the ULSD compared to the LSD causing cleaning of older tanks. I would think that this is minimal though? It's been out for a bit now. Then again?

Hello rbox,

The accepted standards that I have read says that 1 qt for every 36 gallons. About 1:144 ratio. I fill up at about 1/2 tank and put just over a 1/2 qt as a rule. That's me though.

Well, I suppose if the refineries, stock tanks, fuel tankers, fuel tanks, pipelines, and filters in all the associated processing and pumping equipment was all perfectly well-maintained and routinely serviced and cleaned, the fuel would not ever get dirty. In fact, it's normally clean "enough" the worst most people ever experience is a clogged filter.

Do you drink tap water?

But that logic is the same for all fuel LSD or ULSD, I guess I was asking since the way you made the comment, that you felt that ULSD would be dirtier then LSD (not talking emissions here) and that makes no sense.

As for tap water yes I do as we have one of the best aquifers in the world right here in North Idaho.

Nope, that's why we need filters. The comment was more directed towards the previous poster who asked about running WMO. Depending on the circumstances, that would entail introducing a certain amount of more "dirt" into the fuel system. I meant to imply only that it's already "dirty" to some extent, How much dirtier it gets because of whatever you put in the tank would be the issue in that context.

We have pretty good water here too - snow melt from the mountains. But I filter it before drinking anyway, because there's really no telling what happens to it along the way. Tests always come back great, but ... I guess it's a matter of how much you trust what you put in your body. Or your truck.

Hello Ace,

Heck yes I drink tap water. Remember "Pierre water"? Still sold by the way. Was soooo cool to drink that crap. PUKE!!!! Well until the government had to force them to pull it off the shelf due to fecal contamination. Then the Gov. did testing on the other "bottled water" and found ALL HIGH PROFILE companies selling Po po water. Forced congress to make new laws about "bottled water". Apparently they did not fall under the potable drinking water act. Nice, real nice.

So yea I remember the "bottled water" days. Oh yea forgot to mention the parents of new born's feeding that crap to infants. Yea, yea. Dentist's were happy with the super high rate of tooth decay. Had something to do with a lack of minerals that were required for normal development. Now there are warnings about that behavior.

What about the marketing claims of spring water? Oh yea they had to make laws about that too. Should i go on?

I suggest that people make informed decisions about the products they put in there bodies rather than listening to popular opinion or assuming anything. This green tree hugger crap will kill us all unless we are educated in the facts of life. I like to be environmentally conscious of my actions and will hug a tree every time its appropriate, but never when it's just fashionable.

About the whole tap water thing every community has a different treatment process which effects the taste of the water, but tap water is still tested more than bottled water and is safer to drink than bottled water. Bottled water can still have contaminants such as fecal coliform and nobody would know if only a few bottles out of a thousand have it. If tap water has this a boil water notice is issued to everyone in the community. So if you are more comcerned about taste than health, go ahead and drink your overpriced bottled water.
