I bought that same muffler I think but it was too long to fit before the stack goes through the bed even without the cat. I cut it in halt with a cutoff wheel and to my surprise the inner perforated tubing is not connected in the middle. I suppose that will make it easier to tig weld back together though. I havnt had time yet but I would like to hear it installed to see if could possibly be quieter than the magniflow (straight thru AFTER it necks down a little) cause that thing has mesh in it and everything.

Got the EGT hooked up tonite and took it on a test drive. Bone stock truck right now except for the Predator on the middle "performance" level. Getting on the freeway with a long on-ramp I could get the EGT's up to 1500* NO PROBLEM by the time I was merging on..

So, will a boost fooler and high flow muffler keep the temps down a few hundred degrees?

Dang that's hot! Yeah, boost fooler and muffler will lower them a bit. May get up to 100* reduction.

If you don't have one already, I would also try an aftermarket intake. Back-to-back tests comparing the stock box to an AFE II showed an 80* drop in max EGT's on my truck with the AFE.

The Donaldson 40" is a good replacement. No drone and gives you a little more wiggle room and you can place it in with no pipe benting of Fab and it only alters exhaust angle slightly. If you don't wat to get an intake sytem, try the DIY. I just finished mine ad used the new AFE Super Stock drop in replacement and a 4" drain hose from the box to right front bumper. You can hear this baby suck air even at idle. Not sure about EGT's as i don't have gauges yet, but the dummy gauge says she is running cooler. Commander is in my future so i will know numbers soon. I still have my Amsoil Ea filter so I plan on doing a comparison of the two.

Thanks all!

Pauly, had to put Trigger to sleep.. Turned out what the vet swore was hives turned out to be SUPER agressive Lymphoma.. I'm sooooo bummed. My sidekick and best friend is gone after 9 years. I'm glad he had a happy life to the very end..

jrussell, 80*?.... That makes me feel better. I have hogged out the stocker but maybe I need more...

tauberson, the 51" should be here in two days..... too late.. I guess I should have waited but oh well...

Christian, do you ever check your spam folder? Get my last email?

What about a plugged converter? This truck has 100k on it and I'm sure it hasn't been touched. I can only imagine they get caked with soot...

I'm really sorry to hear about your dog. That sure is a crappy thing to go through.

Regarding the EGT's, I do have full confidence in that test between the two. The max temps were logged by peak recall on the EGT gauge. Ambient temp and other operating conditions were the same. The same exact stretch of road was used. The total time between runs was however long it took to remove the stock box and install the AFE (probably 30 minutes).

I just don't think the stock filter size is physically capable of flowing as much air as the huge AFE-style intakes. Check out the *****'s Whistler intake write-up...I'm sure you could whip something like that up easily.

Thanks about Trigger guys... I miss him, but I smile everytime I think how many smiles he created. Really was the best dog I could ever imagine... My next Boxer will have a tough time keeping up, but thats ok..

Just slapped on the Quad boost fooler... Could that be any easier???

Will have some feedback of the temp drop this evening, if any..

I had a Boxer also. She died in my lap. I never cried for any one person the way I cried for my dog...

Back to truck stuff... Remember that boost fooler may help some, but you're probably going to push the stock turbo past it's limit. The only real solution is a bigger turbo. I could never cool the fuel that Diablo gave me with the stock turbo. With the Silver64 I didn't see over 1200degrees in my quarter mile runs.

But with 100k on the trans, assuming it is an auto, isn't that asking for trouble?

I am kinda wondering, as I am in the same boat, 89.5k miles, getting the 4" exhaust, Edge EZ and 53willys' whistler setup. I am afraid to go anymore as I am probably already on the brink of killing the trans (from what I have read).
