U Guys made me do it - New Mega!!!

Allright after looking at your guys new mega's I couldn't handle myself anymore. I was pretty much not liking my 05 due to the large lift and the $430 tires which I just replaced one that I put a hole in!! Awesome !
The truck was a darn good one I have nothing against it but I was tired of "jumping to get in". So after much deliberating I called my dealer and they flipped out when they found out that I wanted to sell mine! So I drove up there this morning and looked at what they had and I wanted the same light almond but they didn't have one with a rear sliding window so I used my second choice and got silver. I kept my camper shell along with my bullydog but I allready sold it so I am going to give Larry a Pm and order a smarty!! I have a few ????

1 - where do i get a plug in for my truck to keep it plugged in at night??

2 - Does anyone have pic's of a 3 - guage overhead mount??

My mod's are going to be as follows but no specific order!!

Scotty Air Filter
Smarty
Rokkteck Muffler
Turndown tip
Vent Visors
Tinted Windows
Leveling Kit???
35" Toyo MT's
Bushwacker Flares
Guages
SideSteps

So far I love the truck. It rides smoother the Tranny shifts nicely! Not that Crazy Larry didn't have any affect of the other one. I do notice that the 06 starts on a dime!! My 05 would crank a couple of times???

I will post pic's tomorrow when I can get them in the daylight!
Any suggestions are great guys!!

Thanks Shane

There's pics of my 3 gauge windshield mount in my gallery. I like it because I'm able to keep the grab handle and also because I wanted a more conservative look than the pillar mount gives. The windshield mount is also a very clean look. Almost looks like factory installed equipment. If you decide to go this route, make sure you specify that you'll need longer gauge lines and wires when you order the gauges as a standard 8' gauge line won't reach, even if it's coming from just on the other side of the firewall. There's more pictures in my gallery of my install including isolator, boost bolt and pyro locations.

I may eventually switch to a dash mount since I won't have to move my eyes as far to see the gauges. The gauges aren't that hard to look at. No different than looking in the rear-view mirror, but I think a dash mount would be closer.

Edited to take the link to the picture out. It just showed up too big to get a feel for how it looks.

I really like the looks of that mount!! I can't decide if I want the overhead or the a-pillar! On my old truck I missed the grab handle but I won't be lifting my truck higher that 2" now!! That is a good clean set-up. I just wonder at looking up to check guages. I tow a-lot so I am constantly checking them!! Where did you get it and how much????

Also Where can I get some good clearance-cab lights they unfortunately didn't have a one-ton with them so I will be getting some! Recon???

Thanks SHane

I ordered them from Mark at DPP. http://www.dieselperformanceparts.com/
They've got them on the web site. Excellent customer service there.
Although I haven't had any dealings with them, alot of guys have ordered gauges from http://www.dieselmanor.com
They offer a pretty good install kit and they carry the same array of mounts for about the same pricing.
Couldn't tell you about the clearance lamps. I know you can order them from the dealership. Hopefully somebody else will chime in with info on the subject.

Have you had any trouble with the overhead mount as far as adhesives and keeping it stuck there????

I didn't use the velcro that was supplied with the kit, I forget what it's called. I bought some heavy duty velcro from Lowe's and covered the whole back of the pod with it. I used a piece of paper in between the two velcro surfaces to block all but a tiny strip from sticking together to line it up. Then pulled them apart and let the velcro stick to the pod and the other half stick to the windshield for a day before I put the gauges in and hung the pod up there. Hope this makes sense. I also put a piece of paper in between the two velcro surfaces when I put the pod in place so I'd be able to position it just right, then just slipped the paper out and pressed. I've had to pull the pod down because my FP gauge line got air in it once. Had no trouble pulling it down and getting it to stick right back in place when I was done.

I was worried about that too! They ended up giving me enough for my trade that I had $75oo in trade and 6000 in rebates! Made it so my payment didn't change very much!! Plus the rebates on the 06 were better than the 07's and I am wanting to wait and see about the new 6.7's.

bretteaton -

How do you like the smarty. I had the Bullydog Crazy larry on my last truck and it was insane. I would tow and everything with it so I am used to having huge power and the new truck is just a little short but still very powerful just wondering about the smarty!! I have heard good things. Have you had any problems??? Thanks Shane

Congrats on the new truck. My wife and I both like the 06 Mega better than the 05 QC we had.
