Turbo Tube Thingy from Geno's

I saw this little turbo tube thingy from Geno's and wondered if anyone here had tried one.



If so, what happens at each end? Do they have some kind of flange or something to prevent the hose clamps from sliding off of the end?

From reading about it, it looks like it's an easy way to remove the intake air silencer that so many people are doing. It should just make the turbo a little louder.

I was thinking by by not having the cross brace things inside of the tube then it would open up the air flow a little more. I"m just wondering if it has some kind of flange or lip on the end or if the hose is just held on by the tightness of the hose clamp.

Anyone know Pat Moore at TDR? It says he made it. Maybe he can answer the question.

It's probably just a hose clamp. That's all that's holding my intake tube to my turbo.

Save yourself some $$ and get a chunk of exhaust pipe. (cost me about 10 bucks)Clamp 'er down and listen to the turbo sing. Your fuel economy will suffer (some say) improve (others say) or stay the same (I say) My black intake tube thingie went awol about 2 weeks after I bought my truck. I don't make a habit of oogling my truck under the hood so don't really care if the thing is shiny or not.

I broke the stock one open, removed the innards, routed off the inner flanges and glued it back together. Looks stock but wide open. See pics in sig.

Spots, what size exhaust pipe is that?

Regarding fuel mileage, I can't see how it would either hurt or help mileage.

I did the exhaust thing on my step dad's 04. I used 5" pipe. It is a little loose in the boots but it will tighten up with the clamps.

Looks like something like a 6" pipe would be a better fit.

I just did mine, all I did was get a 5"ID(51/4OD.). exhaust coupler about 8" long and cut 3/4" off of each end. I then threw a coat of high temp silver paint on it. it really lets the turbo scream but doesn't seem to have hurt my mpg's.

i also have a homemade tube. save your $$ and make it yerself. turbo is deffinatly(sp) louder, and milage stayed the same.

I still don't see how it would effect mileage either way.

To answer the original question, there is not flange or lip on the tube that Geno's sells.

Hoss as stated I used 5" pipe. Some say the air is "tuned" by the black cross thingies in the intake tube. Just like the TAG device being sold. Other say that if you have free flowing air it works better. Opinions eh? I did it for the turbo sound. I wanted my black cross hatch thingie intact just in case I ever want to replace it. Gino's has some good stuff, but other stuff is overpriced IMO.

While replacing this Turbo Silencer Thingie(technical term) has any one removed the white vanes in the bottom boot leading into the turbo? While I have mine apart to remove the TST(see above technical term)I was thinking of removing it also. I'm no rocket scientist but I think it's used to help straighten the air flow back out after going through the TST, just one more restriction removed before the turbo.

We've tested several trucks with the baffles removed, or a replacement pipe in the air stream. Our recommendation is to not do it, as on the majority of the trucks, we noticed a definite decrease in the bottom end performance, especially when using a Ram Air III. We don't feel those baffles are in place to turbo silencing, but are indeed there to smooth out airflow. Removing them may indeed open up flow, but at the cost of turbocharger efficiency, which will affect your spoolup and throttle response.
