Turbo outlet down pipe-Pyro Intall

I'm going to be placing the sensor post turbo to monitor turbo temps for proper shutdown on my stock 305.

Any suggestions for drilling and tapping the outlet. Is it easiest to loosen the clamps and remove the downpipe. Cummins Northwest suggested that I drill and tap about 2" behind the turbo.

I went with the white faced Di-Pricol Pyro and the SRT-10 A-pillar.

I'll try to post pics when its all together.

I just installed my dual boost/egt gauge in the SRT10 pillar. It's a good way to go. I had debated going post turbo, but in the end I went in the exhaust manifold.

My original plans for the post turbo install was to remove the turbo elbow to do the drilling since there was no easy way to reach it from the top as it's presently installed in the truck (unless you have a 90 degree head for your drill, or you drill from the bottom of the truck and install the probe pointing towards the ground). From what I've read it's pretty easy to unclamp and remove.

Here's a good how-to I found that delt with installing egt and boost gauges. It does post and pre turbo egt probes.
