You have to get ready for your next race against Will. Keep that tradition rollin, no matter what he MAY or MAYNOT have done when his truck was getting "fixed".

Sorry Will, I couldnt resist.

That's mine used to do THE EXACT SAME THING!!!!...........

It litterally sounds like the "turbo is slipping". We all know that is not what its doing, but that's what it feels like and sounds like. It used to touch 45-50psi, and then settle in at 40psi.

But now mine is doing this...

....hope that its not something you have to look forward too.

Will and I have agreed to no more racing....instead, we are there for the other one in case something breaks....cause if we are both racing and both broke, how would we get home?!

yea turbo slipping could describe it. Did the guys at Industrial help you? they were no help to me at all.

it seems to make the noise more and more now....or maybe that part is just in my head.

if i roll into gently and build boost, its ok. Get on it hard and it makes the noise....3/4 throttle and past.

i called a friend....he is bring a video camera to town tonight. Im gonna try to get this on video to show yall what im talking about.

i have a video of the day it was at 48psi then kept going....all i have on video is the tach, speedo, and a rail gauge though. heres that video.....rail is plenty strong.....NO sound on this video...my camera is stone age

OK i have video!

Video #1-noise starts at about 35psi

Video #2-noise comes in at about 15psi in this video

Video #3- noise starts at about 30psi...loud whining...not standard turbo noise.

What happened to the 48psi waste gate? its appears to be non-existant 45 psi, then 51psi in 4th?

a buddy of mine had a good thought since it only does it under rapid acceleration or high boost.....lack of oil flow. maybe the bearings aren't getting enough oil?

help!

If it weren't getting oil, you wouldn't have oil pressure. The only way it wouldn't be getting oil is if it was low, and all the oil is on the topside of the engine, and it is running the sump dry when you punch it. I doubt that is whats happening, it would only need to run out of oil once to destroy your turbo running at 15,000+ rpm. Pull the turbo this weekend and check to see if you can find any wear. Call Industrial back and ask how many thousands of play the shaft should have up and down, you should not have any front to back.

I know if my turbo made that sound I'd be looking for leaks somewhere and I'd be calling industrial.

Last time my old turbo made noise like that it was a piece of metal lodged in the exhaust housing. But it only made that noise coming out of the stacks and the turbo was very slow to spool up.
