Turbo & Exhaust Manifold Removal/Installation
Turbo & Exhaust Manifold Removal/Installation
How hard or easy is it (for someone who has never done this before) to remove the stock exhaust manifold and the stock turbo............and install a new turbo and an aftermarket manifold?
Any pointers, tips, or tricks?
Other than buying new gaskets for the manifold, is anything else, like a gasket, required or needed?
Can I reuse the stock exhaust manifold bolts/studs?
Threadlocker needed?
Can the job be done with normal hand tools/air tools?

You will not need anything special. I cut the bracket that holds the heater hose pipe, it is just on the rear of the turbo. I cut it right at the pipe, you will see what I am talking about. You can reuse the manifold gaskets. I take the manifold and turbo out as one unit and put it back as one unit. The hardest part is lining up the oil drain pipe on the bottom of the turbo. You should not have any trouble.
when putting everything back on i thought it was much easier to take the oil drain plug out of the block then bolt it to the turbo, install everything then put the plug back in the block(to get it back in, it needed some lube to slide in )

You get new gaskets with an aftermarket manifold. Depending on who made it, you might have to assemble it and make sure the holes line up and it's square to the head before you bolt the turbo up to it. You can pull the oil drain tube out and bolt it to the turbo, make it way easier that way.
