Turbo Cool -Down Timer on a 03-04.5?
Anyone installed Howards Cool-Down timer yet on a 03-04.5?
I installed it on my new 4.5 and tried a few different of the suggested fuse's and it works fine except when you re-start the engine the engine light stays on.
If you have installed it on your 03 or 04 I would like to hear what fuses you used .
Thanks ,
Keith

Turbo Cool-Down Timer. Works awesome if the engine light didn't come on , I think they did something in the computer for the 4.5 's that doesn't like it . It was $75 shipped to my door.

Hi all,
I think racebepper is right, Dodge has done something new with the 4.5's. The fuse, and the side of the fuse, will not make a difference ( I give 3 fuse options I think). It is all the same power node and there is no way the computer can know, what fuse (on that node) or what side of the fuse, you are connected to.
There may be a work around for this but until the schematic diagrams come out, I have no way of determining what can be done. I will hit the library again this week and try to get to the bottom of this.
Meanwhile, thanks for your patience,
Howard

Thanks Howard,
I've tried every fuse in the instructions and then some. I have a feeling maybe some kind of new sensor in the exhaust or intake is not happy if they have added one. I know we can figure it out eventually.
I do have a voltmeter and know how to figure out which side of the fuse is hot so I don't think that is part of the problem.
Later ,
Keith

Hi Racebeeper68 and anyone else with a CTD 04.5. could you check and see if your computer is setting any error codes. I have had report of an error #480, cooling fan or something like that. I think we have a work around for this, if this is the problem.
Thanks,
Howard

Howard,
I installed your Cool-down Timer on my 03 last December.
Sometime between then and now the truck threw the 480 code, but I don't know what did it. Everything is working properly.

Hi all,
If anyone is having a problem with an error code #480 when using my Cool-down Timer send me a PM or email me at hvanflee@sisna.com. I have a fix and I can send you a picture with instructions on how to fix it.
Also as for the problem of the keyless entry lights not flashing with the cool-down timer running. I talked to others reporting the same problem and have come to the conclusion that, all though it is a change in normal functionality, it is not a problem. I am not sure you know the full issues so let me explain.
When the cool-down timer is NOT running and you use the keyless entry system to lock and unlock the door the interior and exterior lights flash to verify the action. When the timer IS running the computer must, because the engine is running, be programed to not flash the lights. The doors will lock and unlock, but the lights will not flash. I have no control over this behavior.
I have also had one person report the check engin light coming on and staying on with the Cool-down timer. I am currently working with him to solve this problem. Chances are you will not have this problems, I have only seen it this once.
Hope this helps,
Howard
