So i get in my truck this afternoon after a 200mile road trip last night and the engine light is on and there was no smoke or power. I pulled over and put my smarty on it and have 3 codes (2 new).

Old...........checksum error

NEW..........p0299 - boost in range low
..........p0234 - turbocharger overboost

my smarty was on 7 and i put it back to stock and the codes cleared


what is goin on with this thing

 

the P0299 is caused by your turbo. The P0299 will throw you into limp mode too. call your rurbo supplier for a fix

 

the code is gone since i returned to stock software........is the problem gone

 

the codes are cleared when you return to stock. If the truck see's the underboost condition again the code will be set and the truck will go into limp mode.

smarty is not causing the code

 

i didn't think it was...........what is the turbo tryin to say

P0234-TURBOCHARGER OVERBOOST CONDITION

WHEN MONITORED
While running.

SET CONDITION
The intake air pressure is above a calibrated value for a calibrated amount of time.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

• Other DTC's
• Wastegate stuck
• Turbocharger and/or wastegate damage
• Wastegate
• Turbocharger
• Wastegate control valve

P0299-BOOST IN RANGE LOW

WHEN MONITORED
While engine is running.

SET CONDITION
The boost pressure is lower than the expected boost pressure based on engine operating conditions.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

• Other DTC's
• Intake air system restriction
• Turbo charger damaged
• Intake air system leak
• Boost pressure sensor
• Boost pressure sensor
• Turbocharger
• Intermittent condition

Did "checksum error" have a P code with it or is that all it said???

 

i think it was p0602

 

and yes stock turbo

While the ignition is on.

SET CONDITION
A deviation between the ECM memory and a stored calibration.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

• Flash ECM
• ECM
