Transmission Fluid Question
Transmission Fluid Question
Hello all,
I had a quick question and was hoping someone could help me out. I have a Dtt converter and valve body in my tranny and when I had them put it in, the guy used AFT +4 and said that what he put in all DTT trannis he did. Then I recently called DTT because wanted to see what to do on a standard fluid change and they said use dex 3/ merc with red lube guard and a 727 filter. But my tranny is full of ATF +4 and was wondering if i could mix the two fluid or just stick with ATF +4. So i would appreactie if someone could enlighten my on what fluid to use, what filter and to use the red lube guard or not.
Also when i go to change the tranny fluid is it just dropping the pan and changing the filter or is their more to it, like draining the converter some how.
By the way the truck is a 03 with the 47 tranny.
Thanks for any help

Mine has a fully built DTT and all that has ever been in it is Mopar ATF +4 and it runs perfect.
Just drop the pan, change the filter, replace with fresh ATF. I think it's best to keep a schedule....say every 20K miles. Sure it doesn't get all of the fluid out but it gets most of it out and that is all that matters. These are instructions per my DTT builder....30 yr trans guy. Works great.
