trans suggestions

I need some suggestions on some transmissions mods. I have 03 SO with edge juice afe stage 2 intake and 5" exhaust.
Would just a torque converter and valve body be enough to hold the juice at level 5? Should I put a ats trans with torque converter,co pilot and flex plate. I do a little towing about 8k. If I go with a full trans. shipping will be alot because I am in hawaii.

Best thing to do is to start calling the major trans builders. (HTS DTT or Goerend to start with) tell them what you do with the truck and how much power you want to make. All of them should do a good job for you but Dusty @ HTS gets my vote. www.htstransmissions.com

Torque converter, valve body, billet input and intermediate shafts, any else internal thats replaceable is replaced with DTT stuff. Holds up beautifully....and trust me i abuse the heck out of it. 20psi 4wd launches, donuts, power braking, spinning the tires at every stop running Crazy Larry all the time....i did run a smarty for a weekend and abused the mess out of it then too.

James at James Trans Tech gets my vote....he's a DTT builder/installer as well as a Smarty and Amsoil dealer.

Definately beef up that tranny or get a new one. If I'm not mistaken, it should be a 47RE. You can search 47RE and probably find a lot of interesting reading..

Is James @ James Trans Tech a local person (College Station) or how can we contact them?

I have the full ats tranny with the co pilot. ATS all the way!! Couldnt be happier expecially since they treated me great. The copilot really works great weather your towing or racing you can feel the tq converter lock up and move out.

seems that the flex plate is a week point on the 3rd gen. I vote dusty at HTS but they all should do a good job.
