Tranny Problems and Bully Dog
Tranny Problems and Bully Dog
Im having problems with the tranny surging between 1st & 2nd gear and 2nd & 3rd. Im going to take out the BDTD program and the monitor before I take it to the dealer. Do you think the dealership will do their scan to see if I had any performance mods like a programmer? I bought my truck used and it was in the shop getting the tranny worked on before I bought it. Truck is an 06 with 18000 miles on it. Do you think it could be that the bands need tightening?

I think they'll look for an excuse to NOT fix it, especially with the lift kit you have..
What program were you running on the BD and I see in your signature you also have a chip?
THey'll tell you on here you gotta PAY to PLAY, that's why I bought a stick. A clutch is a lot cheaper to change than rebuilding an auto.

if its had traany work done on it already and its still in warranty it should be a now brainer...If you had a smarty you would not have to worry about the obd2 scan...they are not stupid but if it is still under warr. and you know where it was worked on I'd take it tto the dealer that did the work...this is not a popular subject BTW
The key counts is what will hurt you. When you put the BD back to stock it clears the key count....thats how they know you had the programmer. I'd say take the BD off....if possible drive the truck for another week, then return it to the dealer that did the work......footprints stink and more than likley will not work in your favor.
Next suggestion would be to get a Smarty.
Good Luck

You think one week of history is much less suspicious than 1 day? Both spell trouble unless you have a factory flash sticker with a current date that would explain it.
Wasn't thinking about the previous 18k miles! Sorry.
I would bet it had some type of chip on it before you bought it , but even if it didn`t , the tires/lift would be enough to hurt it , esp. if it was driven hard by it`s previous owner.
The only thing you can do is take it in , and see what they say.
IMO just bite the bullit right now and order yourself a trans. from any of the WELL KNOWN builders you see in most of the sigs. With what you have for lift/tires and programmer and try to fix the present trans., you'll be right back to where you are now soon enough. The stock trans./conv. can not handle much more than what it left the factory with, plain and simple.
You know you liked the extra power the programmer gave you, soon you will be wanting more (it's our sickness). There are a few trans. builders that will build you a full billet trans. that you will be able to throw all the power you want at it and it will live. My next trans will be from Goerend (Dave) that's in IOWA but he has dealers/builders across the USA. There are a few other, like I stated above.

I have 37s and the same lift and no tranny issues. ( but I am the only owner of this truck and its never been abused) AND my dealership has already assured me many times they will honor my warranty NO matter what mods I have. I was sure to ask before I bought the truck because I had full intentions of jackin it. But they can NEVER see a programmer, thats the only deal breaker.
Good Luck with your truck. I feel lucky to have a dealer that is so mod friendly.

Not true. If you are just going back to stock it will not erase the history. With the Triple Dog as long as you are not opting out on a TSB warning screen or doing a recovery download the history of key cycles and fuel usage is not erased.

Did you buy it from someone you know?
