So what your telling me is if I go out and check key cycles with the Smarty (Say it has 2000)....remove the Smarty, Hook up the BD (Go tear around with Larry) then put the truck back to stock...(Not the no added power)...recheck key cycles with the Smarty...it should still read 2000+ cycles?

Not to hijack but PowerWagon we got locked out of that tailgate lettering thread cause of some lewd comments (by others)...what about

CTD
POWER WAGON

Replace the Ram LOGO with CTD in matching lettering...I'm Just Sayin...which as you know is redneck for "please don't construe what I said as inflammatory"

As long as you do not go past a TSB warning screen and download anyway or go into recovery mode, then yes that is what I am saying.

So you are saying that BD does not clear the key cycles? I have heard at least 5 guys with BD that have gone to the dealership and called out that the key cycles were like 2.... So just to be clear so I can tell these guys they were lied to, BD will not clear key cycles.

I brought my truck in when I had compounds and everything else...they did my waranty work, didn't care a bit. Probably helps that I know a few of the techs. I wouldn't have them fix something that was caused by power though.

Again I am saying that as long as the download being performed is not a recovery download, and not a download in which there is a TSB upgrade (or downgrade) being done then the key cycles and fuel data will not be erased.

If it is a recovery download or a TSB upgrade/downgrade then the key cycles and fuel data are erased.

BUD....

Will the programmer let you know if it was a recovery program or TSB? How will I know? Do you know what the stock tire size is in inches? I took the BDTD off so the dealership wont have any visual giveaways. I want to make sure i set everything back to stock so when I get my truck back the BDTD will download with no problems. What is the proper way?

So if you are downloading and the programmer sticks....say like it hangs on 30% for 30 min during a download.....what do you do? If its unplugged it goes into recovery mode correct? I can assure you this was my problem...that happened pretty regular.

Do I have a bad programmer? I don't want to update cause I think I have the last CL program. It was updated pretty regular when I was using it.

For tire size go into the menu and select the tire size option. If it has been changed from stock it will give you the option to change tire size or return to stock. Select the return to stock function to set the original stock setting back in.

Once your to the recovery screen the only thing to do is recover it and it will erase the saved data. However this is not something that should happen all the time. If it is continually happening then it is usually caused by a communication problem between the triple dog and the trucks ECM.

Possible causes are:

Dirty or damaged OBDII port. To fix this inspect and clean it if necessary. Make sure all of the wires entering the back side of the plug are pushed all the way forward and locked into place. Also might be a good Idea to get some dielectric grease and cover the connection to help it out.

A bad downloader cable or a bad downloader. If you think that is the case PM me and we'll see what we can do.

I dropped my truck off on Monday. Diesel tech called me and said that my tires were they problem and there wasnt anything they could do to fix the problem. I told him that it was BS. So i went back up there and had the other diesel tech drive it and he told me that the tires have nothing to do with it. He said he was going to run some hyd tests and check a few other things. So I leave it up there and the next day he called me and said since the tranny had previously be worked on by another dealership that they were going to put a brand new tranny in. I asked no questions. I am STOKED!! They never asked me about any power adders. Hopefully I will get my rig back on Sat or Mon. I thought that my truck would haul a$$ before with a mucked up tranny. Wonder what it will be like now? Thanks for all the advice from evertone who gave their .02 cents in.

It's great that they're fixing the tranny but, depending what you run the Bully Dog at you could end up redoing it again later. Auto's just can't take much additional HP.

Warranty laws state that the manufacturer has to prove that any mods that you have done caused the part failure. So say you have an airaid intake and your truck spins a bearing , dodge would have to prove that the air filter caused the problem.Remember , there are Laws to protect the consumer.you just have to be diligent!! But yeah your power adder most likely killed the trans. so count your blessings that they are fixing it.
