TQ lock up switch...
TQ lock up switch...
OK guys I tried to search and came up with nothing...
Has anyone put a lock up (mystery) switch on a 48re??? I find myself driving alot on the service roads and 45mph limit is just under the factory 48mph lock up setting. I don't want to do this to race with, just to lock up when I am chugging along just under the goofy 48mph
setting.
I know it is possible to do, I just don't know how. Heck I find my self running through the 25mph neighborhood streets in 2nd & tow haul, just so the TQ locks up and I don't have to listen to my engine slip aimlessly.
Does anyone have a write up in it???
Thanks in advance...

I have one. Michael at HotRodDiesels.com did one for me when he did the TC/Trans build. I have just a dead mans switch, I use it for racing only and don't want to worry about turning off changing settings. I could easily change to a toggle switch. You might call one or two of the performance transmission manufacturers and ask them. I know the ATS Commander has all kinds of lockup settings, gear and speed. Call them, ATS, DTT, Dunrite, SunCoast, etc. and ask.
Thanks for the reply, I am looking to do something like a toggle switch. I really don't see the need to spend the big $$$ on a "module" that has a bunch of bells and whistles, I just want a toggle switch that will allow me to manually lock it up. The cheap "home made" way is better for me

I have a 05 and I guess the 04`s are different, because I turn on the tow/haul mode and it holds 4th locked down to 40mph and below that locks 3rd down to 25 mph. I am thinking about a ATS module when I beef up the trany.
See my gallery, there are directions and diagrams, I think the info is only good up to 2002? But you can give it a try. Your service manual will help you locate the tranny TC lockup wire, I would be it is different on the 3rd gen. trucks.
Good luck

So it looks like no one has been able to do this on the 3G's yet?? WOW, I figured that there where a few that already figured it out...
there has got to be a way, I guess I will have to put it on the list of "research and jump in with both feet"....
