I would assume the lower the less fuel but you got a good amount of air going in, I think you would be ok with either.

I think it depends on what smarty program you are running. I don't tow anything with the smarty except during a sled pull. The egts get to hot for towing even on 3.
If you have the smarty on watch your pyro!!!

Same with me. I tow 16k in the mountains with the Smarty on 3. The only thing you have to do is be help it downshift so it RPM doesn't drop under heavy load. I wish that when it was in tow/haul it would downshift earlier. I have benn caught with high EGTs a few times but it is always when I least expected it, like a slow switch back road and the truck stays in third instead of downshiftling like it would if I was on the throttle hard. All in all the Smarty on 3 is lower EGTs than stock.

Should not be a problem on 1 or 2 with that weight. Get a boost fooler and that will help quite a bit. If you don't have yet, gauages are highly reccomended.

I tow +10k in mountains on SW#5 with no issues.

I tow 5k on #7, just have to watch egts under heavy acceleration. Does smoke a lot though. Be sure you use a setting with timing. Extra fuel and no timing may increase your egts. Tac

Same here! But you definately have to watch your gauges. But mine seems to run cooler than stock under normal conditions unless I put my foot in it.

I have been towing on #7 for a few months now. (10K with the boat, about 8K in firewood).
I find it LESS smoky than #3, about the same heat (common sense used in gearing and skinny pedal).

I just did 5300 miles towing 8,000 TT most of it in the mountains. Smarty on mild #3 - sooted up the trailer at high attitudes, under load. What a mess. Changed the software to after-market injectors/stock turbo/mild/SW#3 and eliminated the soot problem. But with either setting I had to watch the EGT. It would get hot fast!! Like stated before, a pyro is needed and watch your rig to see how it reacts to the Smarty.
