Towing Questions
Hey I have a couple questions, my truck doesnt pull the camper very well anymore with the 35's. The guy that owns my local shop here has a set of 4.10's in his truck that he is willing to swap for my 3.73's. First of all I am looking for some input on that situation, yes or no, just any info you have for me.
My next thing is that I am thinking of getting a Smarty SR and was wondering if I set tire size and all the appropriate sensors, whatever they are if that will make enough of a difference for me, as I sit here I think that it will not- gearing is gearing, again, any input is good input.......... thanks

Well if you had a TC and VB in your tranny, I'd say keep your 3.73s and get the Smarty because it will more than make up for the lack of gearing and then you can keep your interstate rpms down as well. The problem is that I wouldn't suggest towing with the Smarty without upgrading the tranny, so maybe the 4.10s are the way to go in your case.

To be quite honest, I hate the auto, its the first one i've had in 10 years, dont care for it at all. Roughly what kind of cash would I have to spend in order to get it to hold a moderate Smarty tune and tow with it?????
$2000-2500 and you will like the auto a whole lot more at that point in addition to being able to tow with some power.
Not so sure what to think.
Just got off the phone with the Tranny shop that put the clutch in my 2002 ctd and they say that a triple disk, billet shafts, and shift kit.... 4 grand....
Might have to turn my truck to the south for this one..........

I went and got my camper from the dealer the other day and the truck is in and out of O/D with any liitle incline..... keeping in mind that where I live it is so flat that you can watch your dog run away for three days.........
The truck just seemes to labour more than i thought it would thru all the gears, unless im running at 80 mph.
When I first get moving, the truck shakes so bad that it makes me worry, researched on here and I will try to shim the carrier bearing so see if I can get rid of that somehow.

You can get a TC and VB for $1800-$2200 and labor should be $500-600. Anything else is a rip off. Of course, that's US $s. If you don't tow over 10k and don't plan to do any boosted launches, you do not need billet shafts.
How many miles have you been running the DocP and what power level? Have you been towing with the DocP turned on? The truck shaking could very well be your TC.

I have no intentions of racing my truck, I want strong and reliable is all........ from the factory would be nice????????
Goerend Triple Disc converter $1050
Goerend Valve body, lever and anchor $580
Good reputable shop here said $600 in labor to install both
You don't need billet shafts unless your doing boosted 4wd launches all the time. Most places told me you don't need the flexplate unless your over 500 hp.
I plan on getting a 3rd gen auto and these would the first mods on my list
I would swap the axles. I think it would be a good upgrade for you

Excuse my ignorance but what axle swap are you talking about?????
The Dr.P has been on there since the truck had under 10 000 km on it, now it has 45000km. It is stage 3 - 110 horse i was told. Yes it is always on. And yes I have towed my camper with it..... its 11K pounds dry. Keepingin mind the last time i towed was with a set of 295 tires and no lift.
