Towing mirrors

I have the towing mirrors on my 2006 2500. I was driving down an alley the other night and smacked a telephone pole. It broke the actual mirror. The casing and electrical are all fine. I guess the impact just caused the mirror to shatter. It is still stuck in the case, but shattered and useless. I have been searching hard for a place that even sells the whole thing new, but cant find anything. Is there a website that sells just the mirror? It looks like it fits onto the electrical part with some little clips. Please help guys.

Check with your local body shop and ebay. If you find a good source for the whole mirrors let me know, I got a buddy that wants to swap out his standard mirrors for tow mirrors.

If you go to an auto glass company, they can cut one for you. Do not be fooled into thinking you need a "Factory" part.

I done the same thing to mine in a parking garage. I looked and looked but never found a "mirror glass" only. I ended up having to buy a complete mirror assembly.

I got my mirrors from Art @ Henson Motors on eBay. I got a real good price for the set and they have excellent shipping times and pretty good prices. You can also rest assured that you are getting a good part because they are a dealership.

The only thing about having a mirror "cut" is that the towing mirrors have that blind spot mirror. It may be hard to match that exactly. I'm real picky about having identical things on my truck and if they were the least bit different it would drive me crazy.

Thanks, I ll tell him to check it out.

The guys at my body shop told me they could get "after market" glass for the mirror I bought on ebay that had busted glass but we went a differant rout.

Everytime I got there they always ask me if I want OE or aftermarket. Aftermarket is identical and at least half the price.

SUBJECT:
Trailer Towing Mirror - New Mirror Glass Locking Tab - New Removal Procedure
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves a discussion regarding new removal procedure when replacing the
mirror glass on a trailer tow mirror.
MODELS:
2002 - 2007 (DR/DH/D1/DC) Ram Truck (1500/2500/3500)
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with trailer tow mirrors (sales
codes GPD or GPG) built after April 16, 2007 (MDH 0416XX), and for any
vehicle where service replacement of the mirror glass is required.
DISCUSSION:
The trailer towing mirror assembly has a replaceable mirror glass. As part of the
replaceable mirror glass, a locking tab has been added to the plastic backing on the mirror
glass. This change has been made to vehicles that are built after April 16, 2007. This
change is also being incorporated in service replacement mirror glass.
The process of installing mirror glass with the new locking tab has not changed.
The removal process for mirror glass with the new locking tab has changed. The mirror
glass will require depressing the plastic locking tab.
1. Use a long stem flat blade screwdriver or suitable trim stick.
2. Tilt the mirror glass inboard.
NUMBER: 23-013-07
GROUP: Body
DATE: April 13, 2007
3. From the outboard side of the mirror housing, slide a trim stick or flat blade screwdriver
behind the mirror glass (Fig. 1).

Dodge dealership will have the replacement glass assembly. I think mine was $39. Takes about 5 mins to change if you know how to do it.
