Took my truck to the track - 12.58sec 1/4 mile! How can I improve?

I finally got to take my truck to the dragstrip on Wednesday. I ran it 5 times, ranging from 12.586sec to 12.643sec. I'm only using the Smarty for electronics using TNT/R with these settings:

RPM Limiter #1 - 4000 RPM
Shift Limiter #0 - Stock
Torque Management #3 - Moderate
Injection Timing #3 - Aftermarket Injectors
Rail Pressure #1 - Stock
Wastegate #1 - Off

I know there is room for improvement, so what do you suggest, and what kind of drop in times might I see? I was only launching at around 10-15psi since I was 800 miles away from home and didn't want to break anything. That's also why I didn't try the Smarty Shift Limiter option. Timing could definitely be increased as well as pressure (it was holding strong at 24.5kspi). The truck is pretty much smoke free running down the track, so I'm sure I could use more fuel, but I really like the streetability of the Flux 2's, so I think I'm gonna stick with those...UNLESS I end up with that progressive nitrous setup, and then I may bump up to some 3.3's.

Your times are consistant. I can tell you the sooner you lock your torque converter the quicker you'll get to the gate. I like to lock mine as soon as it shifts to 2nd. Turning off the shift defuel may help some. Setting your torque management to #2 mild will let you better control boost at the line and running #2 moderate rail pressure may help. The rest of the settings I wouldn't change other than the catcher levels. I don't know what elevation you're at but the temp looks good. I'm at 300' and with those temps I can run in the 12.20s

you should be able too shave about a 0.10 off of your 60'....that would equate too about 2-3 tenths at the 1/4.

The 35" tires are hurting you!
I bgt some used 17" Dodge steel wheels (traded in for fancy's) and used E rated 265/70/17's with 5-10,000 miles left on them.

Running 265's is worth 3/10's to 5/10th's faster times. Makes a big difference on 60' times and should get you close to 90 mph in the 1/8 mile... depending on your weight?

More power !

I've done 92mph in the 1/8 on my 37's and ran in the 11's in the 1/4.

Little tweaks like have been mentioned will help but, to move your truck faster the way it's set up.... mo powa !!

Stock tire will surely help but, anyone can do that. Doing it on the big tires is more fun :-)

Drag Racing on oversized tires is like driving a steel spike with a ball peen hammer! It can be done but why make the job harder?
However, there is something to be said for run it like you daily drive it! I guess it's a case of... "Different strokes for different blokes".

like you said... different strokes. I don't see it that way. No, big tire weren't meant to be raced on but, our truck weren't meant to be raced either. It's not making anything harder, you just need more hp to do it.

The one thing about the big tires is surprising people. I went racing at Rockingham one weekend because I was bored. The first guy didn't want to pull up and run beside the big slow truck. I cut a 14.2 first time out on 40's with a 6spd that I suck at shifting. Surprised and scared the heck out of the guy driving an AMG E55 when I roasted him at the line, he did run me down at the very end barely. It was early in the day and lots of people didn't see the run, so everytime nobody would pull up beside me. They wanted a real race instead of the big slow truck, but the guys in the tower would make them(mostly imports) pull up just for their own entertainment. I was even running with a toolbox, jack and full size spare in the bed and a 35" spare under the bed. Everybody was loving it!

Thanks for the tips! I'm actually running 285's in the video. I throw these on when I go on long trips to Vegas, Lake Powell or Cali, and it saves me a few mpg.

tritont, your rig is IMPRESSIVE! I would love to dip into the 11's, but I don't know if that's going to happen. I guess I could always call Nathan at MPI and upgrade to the race housing on the S400, throw in some Flux 3.3's, and add a TST into the mix. Like you said, "expensive and powa are synonymous !!". This was supposed to be my work rig to tow my bobcat for my landscaping business...I guess I've gotten a lil carried away!

thanks but, I'm not trying to impress with my trucks numbers. Just pointing out it can be done. Keep in mind also that I'm running a single turbo but, I do have bigger sticks and I'm also only using the Smarty. If you stack the TST with the Smarty.... that alone should give you better times but, I think with some tweaking, you could do better with what you have.
