Exclamation Tone ring mod with banks 6 gun

Has anyone completed the tone ring mod on an 04 with the banks 6 gun and speed loader? Does anyone know if the 6 gun and speed loader adjust timing already? Any replies would be great. Thanks

I also have the Banks six gun, and yes I think Banks does claim a timing advancement, but Im not sure how much of one. I am also heavily considering this mod on my 04 305/555 cummins! Does anyone know if I should do it or not???

I looked at the web site for Banks and in their discription of the 6 gun they talk about it controlling injector timing. Is this what adjusting the tone ring is doing? Anyone know?

Yes, the tone ring mod is adjusting the timing. Now the question is how much timing is the Banks adding? We know the tone ring mod is a static +2 degrees. To much timing is not a good thing. As the timing increases so does the chamber pressure. And fuel economy can go down once pass a certain point.
Personally, if I had a box that adjusts the timing, I wouldn't mess with the tone ring.

There's lots of information on the tone ring mod in this section of the forum. In a nutshell the mod is to remove about 1/16" off the counterclockwise side of the dowel pin hole on the tone ring. The tone ring is located behind the harmonic balancer. Use the search function for more info and pics of the mod.
