Tires: GdYr Silent Armour or Toyo M55

I have gone thru 3 sets of tires in 69 months and 97,000 miles. The last set of Toyo OC 285/75/17 lasted 20 months and 26000 miles. I rotate every 7500 miles and have been running 65 psi front and 60psi rear. So, I'm looking for the next set now.

Goodyear Silent Armour 285/70/17 are D rated or 265/70/17 - E rated. Offer 50,000 mile warranty. Any problems with the 285's - do they flex too much? Any comments on wear would be appreciated.

Toyo M55's not many post - but a lot of interest - if you have run 'em how are they to ride, drive and last.

My vanity wants the 285's, but times are tough and I need tires to match.

Thanks for any comments...

The Toyo M-55's are the best tire I've ever had. They were designed for oilfield usage to stand up to the harsh roads. They do make a little noise@ 45-60 mph but not bad. The tread pattern is between an AT and a MT. Like every Toyo product, minimal lead to balance. Unfortunately they don't offer a 285-75-17 for us 3rd. gen guys. E rated.

I have a second gen so 16 inch size for mine and unsure about the 17 inch size availaiblity. I ran m55s in 285 e with good results, liked the tires they did very well but were a too noisy for me. Got a bit over 50k out of them.

Previous to those I ran bridgestone dueler revos in 265 e really liked the tire, were very quiet, they did great in everything except gooey mud, which is why I switched, that and I wanted 285 e. First set 58k second set 62k out of them. Both the revo and m55's towed well also.

I am now running the Michelin at2 in 285 e too early to say how they will hold up as they only have about 6k on them. They seem to do well in snow, dry and wet havent had them in the mud yet, minimal noise. One thing I have noticed with them is they tend to oversteer a bit in the snow and junk, if you are going real slow no problem.

I looked at the goodyear silent armours but years ago I was dissapointed when they switched the tread design on the goodyear ats the newer tread design while being a bit different also didnt have the tread depth I would have liked for the center lugs or maybe I should say the center lugs tread depth didnt go as deep as the rest of the tread depth so after about 1/2 to 3/4 wear you no longer had individual tread blocks in the center. The silent armours appeared to be the same to me so I went the Michelin at2's this time.

x2 on the M55 being a good, tough tire between an A/T & M/T.

x2 also on wishing there were more sizes beyond a 265 for a 17" rim...
