Time to switch from SuperChips to???

Well I've been running the SUperChips prgrammer for about a year now and it's not bad but I don't like the EGT's when towing and I sure could use some mileage.

Any one who had a super ships what did you go to and how did it work out?

I went from a superchips, to a Diablo, back to the Superchips, to a Smarty Sr. Smarty is great, either with no other performance parts or a full pile of receipts.

Smarty Jr is good if you want to stay mild and not fry your clutch. It will have a resale within like $50-$75 of what you pay for it in case you ever decide to get silly.

Good luck buddy.

Yes Derek,

the smarty works great on stock trucks. It totally changes the feel of the truck. Definitely on the list of best mods I did.

Just got my new SB con ofe so I can dump my dual mass junk, just need to install it.

How are temps using the 170 hp setting? Anyone towed at the 7/8/9 settings?

I will be reading and searching a lot of old smarty posts!

If you get it from someone who has not had it on a shelf for a while, so it has the latest tune, the temps are a bunch cooler (150-200*) than the Superchips. I was shocked at how much cooler my truck ran. WHen I first loaded the Smarty, it had an older tune and it smoked like crazy. Then I loaded the latest download (Dec. 07) from the website, and smoke levels are really low and EGT's totally dropped.

Now I am running the 4.4 beta, it is still cooler than the Superchips, but hotter than the standard Dec. 07 download.

Nice to hear about 150 or more cooler on the EGT's.

Any fueling issues draining the rail with the stock CP3/injectors/turbo and the higher settings?

I use the smarty for towing all the time works great egt's in check i just dont get out of hand with it when i've got a load behind. On higher settings you may need a better fuel pump to keep up, not sure but without a pressure box i doubt I am draining the rail with my set up. Go Smarty you wont be dissapointed!

Looks like all of the replys and research are definitly pointing to a new smarty.

The I'll have to do a wallet check to see the other goodies that will bump me up a level.

BTW any comments on mileage with stock truck and the Smarty and on what setting and program revision?
