It will realy all boil down to what your budget allows. When I put all the exterior "junk" on my truck I opted for the 4" lift. Mainly cause the 4" was $300 cheaper then the 6" lift. I wish I would of got the 6" but I love my 4" at the same time. I went ahead and put on new tires/wheels, see sig and gallery. If your going to do it you might as well do it all at once and be done w/ it.

I wanted the Billsteins also but never got around to put them on. I may do so later on in the future but to be honest my truck is riding quite nice at the time w/ the shocks I am running(Tuff Country model).

I am looking at this in the next few month as well. I am thinking about a 4" Skyjacker w/ Bilstiens, 325/60/R20 BFG All Terrains on 20" Blackfoots, which might change, because I dont know if I will like a 10" wide rim...But I am kinda puting this out there also to see of anyone has done similar, and if they had any fitament/rubbing issues with a like set up??

On my 2000, I ran 35" BFG MT's for 2 years, before I sold the truck to my Bro. (KYCATPOWER) To be honest, as soon as the tires were on my truck, I wanted a little more. Hence, I just put 37" Goodyears on my 2005. And I love it. They ride great. In my opinion, less tire hum then the BFG MTs. Couldn't find a lot of info on tire life, so I gambled a bit b/c I wanted the E load range. But I am very happy after 500 miles, lol.

I'm no expert, just know what I've read on here. But backspacing seems to the biggest issue with larger tires on these trucks. I can tell you that with H2 wheels my 37" tires rub no where on the truck with 3" of lift. But I've read that many people have issues with 4" and sometimes even 6" of lift and 37" tires when they move to 4.5" of backspacing.

But IMO, if you think you may want 37's, get them. Otherwise, you'll probably be counting the miles down on the 35's until you can replace them with the bigger ones.

With a auto and 3.73's go with the 4" and 35's. If I had 37's I would definately want to get new gears.

Ya it comes down to money, but if you go with a 6 try to get a lift that extends your front control arms towards the rear of your truck with a 4 you are ok to leave them in the stock position. Also I am a big fan of the Donahue Racing shocks. But if you want to get real crazy drop airbags in all 4 corners. www.keldermanmfg.com

I've got a 5.5 inch Fabtech with 18 inch rims and 35 BFG/MT's installed for $4100 bucks and I love the ride. Just check out my gallery.

Backspacing is the key, I went with 4.5 of backspacing and got some rubbing, so if you can find a rim you like with more backspacing you'll be very pleased, good luck.....

I saw a couple of 6" with 37",they had to trim the rear of the front fender.
Looks to me like it may still rub
Now I gotta figire out fow many rpms I will lose with the 3.73's
I dont want to have to do a gear swap

Here My 2005 with a Skyjacker 4.5 lift, dual shocks with new leafs in the rear, no blocks. Pro-comp 35s.

my turn for 2 cents. I decided the 6" lifts were to much money and put angles on the drive train I didnt like. Also I bet a longer front drive shaft is required. possibly a rear too. also with a 6" I feel you deffintly need a long arm controll arm kit and there hard to put in i understand. So I went with the 4 or 4.5 skyjacker lowest model class with full leaf packages. I took the leafs apart int he back and added a 1" lift block and the very bottom spring from my factory leaf packs. You know the one. its thick and flat. With this setup the truck sits more or less factory like but higher! without it I think the rear would be to low. I dont like the trac bar setups they come with so I got solidsteel's 03 conversion and adjustable trac bar for correct length. I have billstine 5100's? I think thats thenumber. I love them. now for tires. I run h2 take offs 34.5x12.5x17. also 37x12.5x17 both goodrich at ta ko. In the winter I run those 11x16's michilen XL's on stock 16'' wheels. there something like 39x11x16. Hope this helps some. good luck.
