Blown -

Cowhand is running DT's arms on his truck I believe. I'm sure he'll chime in soon.

Question for you Don -

Most your stuff comes unfinished, but will these since they are a box design? (Worried about rust)

Cheers, Dave

But I have them on a 2nd gen.....does that count?

Tyler,

I'm running 2* of caster and I haven't had DW since I put the RA's on. They flex every bit as well or better than the SJ junk I took off, and I don't have alignment problems either. I'm absolutely convinced that the 4 link is junk compared to RA's.

I'd like to say the ride quality is better too, but I think that has more to do with the shocks and springs......

Don,

David didn't listen to me until after I broke the originals three times.....
When you put the 315s on I'm gonna tell you "I told you so"

They will be unfinished also...

I have a drain cut into the bottom plate, so as long as you are not out packing them full of mud they will be fine. If you live in a salty climate it wouldn't hurt to spray a ton of that waxy marine rust protectant inside once painted. That's probably what I'll be doing on mine...

I wouldn't want to put bump forces on the arms Paul, although that is a **** good idea! If the bushings intersected the axle on the top/bottom I'd be all over it, but with the bushings behind the axle it would put a huge amount of twist on the arms at bump..

Hey Don, so are they working as planned? Do they ride better?

Also, it was a bit of wishful thinking but I was hoping these might "cure" Death Wobble to some extent, but I pulled my stabilizer off yesterday morning, hit the bump I can get it on and managed to get HORRIBLE DW where I had to pull to the side of the road. My truck is set up to actually GET DW right now(no sway bar, super soft shocks, bad TRE's, etc) though. I plan to finally build the steering stabilizer I have been dreaming about now that the radius arms are done, and I know 100% that this stab will cure it...

FWIW, when I hit that same bump in the DW video on my site going 80mph it was VERY smooth before I pulled the stabilizer, so there was a positive change going to the radius arms in regards to DW as it would do it everytime before adding the R-ams. Just gotta do a bit more testing in the next couple days to know more...

Don,

Can you estimate how many degrees of castor the arms are set at now?

Hard to say for sure Paul but I'd guess 5*... I'll check it soon when I get some time..

I threw the stabilizer back on today before leaving the shop, which puts the truck back to the EXACT same state as the death wobble video, and at 80mph I could not get it to DW on the same bump. The radius arms do help for sure even on a stock truck, so with a lift they would do wonders. As soon as I throw on the 315's and soft 2.5 springs it will be the true test...

No hurry Don. I was just curious because everyone says you need lots of castor to cure death wobble and was wondering where yours was set.

Donny.........less is more

Take the deflection out of the upper points of the triangle and run it at 2* just to see what happens.

Have you measured the angle between the axle C's and the CA pockets on 2nd gen vs 3rd gen? I got to wondering how much caster is or isn't built into the axle, and if it's relatively consistent from truck to truck. Might explain why, all other things being equal, some trucks straighten out at 3-3.5* vs others that want 5+.

Or in my case......1.8-2*
