I did mine with the krylon fusion paint. Did not look bad black.

then I thought I would go with a chrome/black look and got some aluminum ones. Then decided on a all black look and powdercoated them black.

Not many people notice, but they look good.

not sure I have good close up pics of either.

Truck now has painted mirrors and powdercoated handles

What did you do about the texture? Did you have to sand it all off? Would it look bad just painting over the texture? I work next to a body shop and I think I could get them painted for free, but I want it to look right. Thanks.

You can do either or but if done right you won't see much texture.. If a body shop is doing it for free they arent' doing it right.. You need to remove the handles from the truck completely prepare them and then paint them.. Trust me I know for experience!! First time I tackled this project I painted them on the truck.. Didn't last long!!

They told me we'd have to pull them off. The owner of the body shop is a really good guy, he painted my bumper and wouldn't even let me pay for the paint.

It depends on the color of your truck. Go find a Jeep GC that is the same color as your truck., The handles are the same and they come color matched to the rig. Then you will only have to paint the tailgate handle. Not sure of the year range but the '04 GC that the ex had would interchange. Thought about doing that before I put the SS skins on.

That's good info... So an 06 GC handles are the same as ours? Am I hearing you right??? That would save some paint time.. Wonder what they cost at the dealer??? Probably an arm and a leg!!

Truck is white. They had some grand cherokee handles at the shop, looked just like Dodge handles. I didn't even think about finding white GC handles. Thanks for the info! I'll definitely look into it.
Shane, thanks for the help. I'll probably end up pulling the handles off and pay to have them painted, just to make sure they take the time to do it right. It can't cost that much.

It might be a while before I can pry the truck away from my wife for a few days and get it done. I'll let you know and try to get some pics up. Thanks again for the help.
