Its actually more like 55,760.00 !! ouch !!!
5000 down, 620 per mo. for 48 mo's and a residual of 21,000 after taxes and turn in fee.
No i didn't read the entire contract. does anyone read all 10 pgs. of that fine print. I was told there was no way to know the exact payment because on a lease the interest rate is not the same as it would be for a sale. I know, it was my mistake

You have to remember, that all three of the big companies sell hundreds of thousands of these trucks, and if all the duramaxs overheated at 50 mph, im pretty sure that nobody would buy one,,,,, so I would have to say that it is an isolated incident... same as the guys that have problems with the dodges, where injectors drop or whatever,,,, no matter what brand you drive there are going to be possible problems,, that is what warranty is for

i don't think it's isolated...

I can only think of one way to know if the there is something wrong with my truck. I have already done a "real world" test, so maybe its time to take it to the dyno. Anyone know where i could find one in so. cal? Seems like that will put an end to all the questions. Anyone have an idea what it should dyno at?

By the way, my dads truck is an '02 duramax, totally stock. anyone know what the #'s should be on his truck?

2002 was a good year for the duramax.

Thats weird about your financing, I knew everything before I left just by asking the finance guy questions. Only thing I forgot was payment due date, I had to call us bank for that.

And as for fuel mileage, I have the LBZ engine, which is probably the worst of the duramaxs on fuel, and I am getting between 19 and 21 MPG, the lly engine which is what was in the 05 should have been getting easily in the 20's.

And to put this straight if you think that the chevys have less power, race one,, you will see that this is not the fact (the lbz has 360 hp and 650 lbs tq)

Dont get me wrong here, the dodge is an awesome truck, I really really wanted one of the new 6.7 trucks,, but after a test drive and they hit me with the numbers,,, I just had to buy the chev

loyalty can only go so far.....

I drag raced my cummins (stock 2007 QC 2500) against a 2006 Duramax that had a 6" lift and 35's on 20 inch rims. We both had no chips or programmers. He won, now I got the xzt though.

So I guess what I’m asking here is, (I realize this is a dodge site) what do you all think of the 07 classic chevy with the d/a. I am well awhere that all makes have some type of inherent problems.
I try NOT to think of them ..... but if I were you I'd just go and get one and be happy ..... PLUS - you would then put me out of your misery.

FWIW, my family has had all 3 brands. All different years and such, but they were new when we had them. We all drive dodges now... They were nice trucks, but they weren't dodges. Dodges are the symbol of reliability if you ask me.

Guys just called me from Florida and said for the last few days the Duramax has had a nasty POP in the rearend everytime they take off. That thing is totally stock and my Dodge with 3 stacked programmers and half the mileage and no problems yet. Maybe I shoulda bought the 02' Ford with the 7.3 and the same money or bit the bullit and carried a loan for a few years on a Mega.

hm thats funny because I have 61,000 miles of 1.7x 60 foots and 12 second quarter miles on my truck, as well as hauling many a large trailer... nothing's broken. Go figure?

last I checked SRT-10's run low to mid 13's, and probably weigh 2,000 pounds less than me...

whats next, you're going to start bashing the rear axle in the GM trucks? Its the same one thats in the dodge FYI

why are you giving kevin a hard time? He has a dodge as well as a dmax. I love people who cant acknowledge any positive qualities about competing brands...blind pig headed brand loyalty just makes you look stupid. I love my truck but Im not afraid to admit its weaknesses and the strengths of other brands. If there was a perfect truck the other two MFG's would go out of buisness. There will never be a perfect truck that 'has it all'

Ford: Ford has a solid chassis, and they make one awesome looking truck
dodge: cummins engine, enough said

Every vehicle has their own pros and cons, and as such every vehicle can have an isolated defect!!

For eg. Guy I know had a 2006 LBZ dually with 4200 kms, driving down the highway he feels a shudder then loses both tires of the rear drivers side....sheared the studs off of the axle. Chevy told him he was overloaded (he had 1000 pounds in the back). He swears he is gonna buy a dodge, because i have never had that problem and I often time am overloaded. He didnt realize I have the exact same axles as he does!!

Plain and simple it is personal preference.....I could never drive another chevy simply because of my 4 bad experiances when i was younger, and after watching a 2008 F450 go into regen loaded with a trailer (tail pipe was red hot, and small flames started too form), could never drive one of them.

Jon.

This is so true Ben, and as I have said before, blind faith and loyalty is a good thing, but sooner or later you are going to bump into something. I am only trying to post facts, not blind faith. My dodge runs low 12's high 11's depending on the day...... my chevy ran mid 14's stock, with just a edge evoloution (their lowest performance programmer) no air box, no exhaust upgrade etc, I also had my 300 # pullrite hitch in the back and my toolbox full of stuff. It would take allmost nothing to get that truck into the 13's. It pulls my 13k (dry) 5er excellent,, so I cant complain about it. ( I pulled the same 5er with my dodge (when it was setup the same as the chevy, just a downloader and it wouldnt pull the hills as good, but that just stands for reason as the chevy has 55 more hp and 100 lbs more tq)

Yes I did know that and thats why I said maybe I shouldve bought the used ford and I wouldnt be having rear axle issues on a higher mileage truck. Or maybe they all had the opportunity to do it who knows.

I just bought the work truck hoping it wouldnt have problems but it also makes a wierd buzzing noise under the dash about every fifth time you try to start it and I have no idea where all of the antifreeze is goin. It doesnt show signs of it in the oil. And the truck looked well maintained when I bought it.

Im no diesel mech. so all I can go on is personal experience. I wont say im not biased but ive never liked the chevys and was tryin to make a good non-biased decision for a work truck and it just hasnt been a good experience.

Thats not to say that I dont think they have the next best diesel or good trannys. Just that I shouldnt have went cheap and then maybe I wouldnt be so irritated everytime I have issues if I was fixing on a truck I actually liked.
